What's new

Neto or Mack possible trade?

I hear you, but I really don't think the emergence of Dante will shake our resolve with Hill. If anything, Dante's emergence could spell trouble for Burks, since we could likely dump him for pick(s) and segue that cap space over into a new contract for Hill. That'd be my desired outcome as long as Burks doesn't breakout in some new dimensional way this year (which I doubt will happen).

This... Hill is a combo guard who fits in with others really well. Defends his *** off too. If Exum breaks out Hill is retained in a 6th man role. Burks would be moved to clear some space.

Withey will be kept. Neto won't be cut... he's cheap for two more years and a perfect 3rd pg imo. Personality wise he fits very well. Mack should be retained until Burks comes back then he could be traded. he's big enough to play the 2 for spot minutes.

CJ is hustle and grit, but he's not a great defender... just good. Offensively he kills what we are doing. He's no spring chicken and tbh is the most replaceable. If we released him I doubt he'd be picked up. There are some roster crunches in Houston, Boston, and other places. Better players or prospects with more upside than CJ will be available.

The determination won't be based on pre-season either... Neto, Mack, and Withey all proved they can contribute on NBA teams in a more meaningful role than CJ. I like CJ but he had an opportunity last year and couldn't throw it in the ocean or string 3 or 4 dribbles together without getting in trouble.

A good point NAOS-- never thought of it as Hill vs Burks.

But what positions will Dante and Hill play? I'm assuming you'd gun for a backcourt of Dante/Hill/Hood and some energy 4th guard? I guess that's possible.

I thought a great trade would be burks, mack, withey and a future 1st for either okafor or noel and filler (probably stauskas)

We don`t need cap space to re-sign him as we have his Bird rights, AFAIK.

Correct, we have Hill's Bird rights. Sorry, I wasn't clear on my point, which was a bit broader and longer-term. How much of the cap space do you want to take up on PG position if Exum will capably hold down the position? Jazz have an upcoming salary squeeze and are going to have to decide how to allocate scarce resources. Our bigs (Rudy, Gordon, Favors, Trey) will take up a large chunk of our cap. How do you dole out the remaining dollars to the backcourt? So just because we can pay Hill $15M per year, it may not be in our strategic interest to do so. We'll see. In Lindsey we trust.

you want to destroy Exum career before it starts? Because he isn't ready to be a full time point guard in the nba. This kid didn't play high school ball or college ball here in AMERICA. He is behind the curve at the moment,. It is why Ben Simmons will make an impact before Exum does. HaTE To bust your bubble but sometimes even though the truth hurts it is the best thing to say

You respond to "if Exum can capably hold down the position" by stating what is obvious to everyone.

And please don't fret, you never say anything that hurts me, but I do thank you since you are an unwitting foil and play the role of site buffoon quite nicely.
