What's new

New - as far as finally making an account

Being a fellow East Coast Jazz fan, I can relate to your plight of getting perhaps a dozen nationally televised games and being able to see them rarely in person. I also know what it's like to try to explain to others why you can like a team so seemingly random on the other side of the country. The way I see it, there's more to being devoted to a team than just regional proximity. Welcome to the board.

Only thing I hate about Pittsburgh is that it's close to Youngstown, OH. I had an office in Youngstown years ago and had to make trips there about 10 times per year. What an armpit of a town that needs to be nuked. Otherwise, welcome.

Welcome! Pittsburgh is one of the best kept secrets in USA. Very nice city, wonderful area of the country, reasonable cost of living, great sports teams. It's come a long way from the rust belt steel dependent economy days.

Though I should say that I've hated the Steelers since my youth and consider Big Ben the poster boy of prima dona athletes with entitlement complexes. But I love the Penguins and am rooting for the Pirates to regain their lost glory. (What has happened to once proud baseball franchises like Pittsburg, Kansas City, and Oakland is really a shame.)

Thanks for the kind words, you're absolutely correct about Pittsburgh. We have been voted the #1 most livable city a few times and the cost of living is outstanding compared to what people in other states and cities have to pay. People like you said will just assume Pittsburgh is the same as in the past but when they get here they are shocked and how beautiful it is here. As far as the Steelers and Ben.. I guess you cant agree on everything LOL

First of all, welcome my friend.

About Pittsburgh... How about the air for foreigners there? Is it welcoming? I've been trying to get in USA almost every year and one day I'm gonna make it. Maybe Pittsburgh will be my city too for some years. You can count on me, I love beautiful cities. I won't ruin it.

Welcome. It's always nice to have more posters interested in starting threads about how interesting they are and less interested in Jazz discussion. Too bad that other Pensylvanian got kicked off, huh.

thanks for giving some strong hints as to your character/shtick. I appreciate how you don't like message-board drama, but then precede to give nothing but data on your personality, etc. I appreciate that cuz it's funny.

The air is fine now its totally different then it used to be i think its great. But everyone has their own opinions and probably have to decide for themselves you know? Its very welcoming i always hear from outside people how friendly pittsburgh is for the most part. Just like any city that has their fare share of a-hole and all that but overall i love it here.
