I liked Brooklyn. You can also go short with "Brooke"

Whereas short for Kennedy would be "Ken" which to me is a bit weird for a girl's name...

Kennedy.

Brooklyn is cute but could carry a 'hard' tough life connotation.
Kennedy will always be a name of endearment in America.
