New star wars

Yep, by a good margin.
I'm actually really surprised by this. Winter movies NEVER make as much as summer movies opening weekend. Not even close. Before Star Wars, the highest U.S. opening weekend gross in December was the first Hobbit movie with $84 million (so Star Wars just tripled that previous record). And they managed to break the record for global opening weekend gross despite the fact that the movie hasn't come out in China yet. Jurassic World (the previous record holder) made $90 million in China opening weekend. Crazy stuff.

Yep. SW was in about 140 less theaters than Jurassic World too and only 84 more than The Hobbit.

$238m opening weekend. Holy ****.

Over $500m Worldwide. Disney is on their way to getting their investment back in the purchase of Lucas Films. Now just make a new Indiana Jones to make me forget the childhood raping Crystal Skull.

I can imagine what a crapfest it would have been if Lucas still had the reins.

Well Disney is hopping on the Star Wars train with both feet.

Rogue One is coming out in 2016 and is already filming. This is a straight up war movie. It is about a squad of X-Wing pilots on a mission to steal the Death Star Plans. Takes place between Episodes III and IV.

Episode VIII is due in 05/2017 (looks promising from what I have read, good director and Benicio Del Toro is added to the cast).

And they are working on 3 more. A Han Solo spin off, Boba Fett spin off and Episode IX.

Also there are a bunch of cool easter eggs and cameos. Did any one realize that Daniel Craig (yes, James Bond) is in the movie?

yeah they should have left the mask on.

I think that was the point. He is not Vader but he is what Anakin should have been.

Boyega is my favorite, though. Easily the best one of the three. His energy kept the movie alive at some points. He was kind of a glue guy.

Oscar Isaac is good too but he is much more experienced.

Meh. Boyega was just sort of there for me. Nothing special. Isaac brought legit acting to his character.
