Star Wars fans are so hard to please! Sheesh!
I've never even heard of the 3 main actors in this film. I thought all 3 were completely and utterly fantastic by every stretch of the imagination.

I am a Star Wars fan and the acting wasn't captivating and the franchise and its movies could still have Oscar-worthy performances. The Dark Knight proved that.

Isaac was very good. He brings legitimate acting chops to anything he's in, including this. The chick was very solid but to use words like captivating and such feels a bit exaggerated imho. Finn was decent, really nothing more. He felt slightly caricaturish with his expressions or speaking parts at points tbh.

I would just like to point out that typically most "outstanding" performances (aside from special effects) don't come from the Sci-Fi/Action genre.
In a movie where the special effects are second to none, I'd say that the acting really set this apart from the previous 3 SW movies. Epsidoes 2 and 3 are visual Thanksgivings but unbearable to watch due to the script, annoying characters, and turrible acting.

I don't disagree but that's more of a byproduct of the previous episdoes setting the bar soooooo low rather than this one raising the bar so high like OL might try to make one believe.
