Is it it just me or does this pretty much blow chunks? Other than the guitar solo this has very few redeeming qualities.

Hopefully the entire album isn't this horrid and they have a few cover songs that aren't too badly screwed up. Not holding out with much hope however as this is the lead release.

Where's Sammy when you need him? Frickin' DLR...

I listened to it the other day and was saddened by how bad it was. It's almost as bad as the **** they did with Sammy.

Pure crap. My how the mighty hath fallen. You wonder if they can ever get back the magic they had on Diver Down or Van Halen.

Now you're simply being purposely obtuse. Not even the Gary Cherone era was as bad as this.

I think I would rather listen to this than Van Hagar.

Dave's voice is still good, but his brain is fried and he acts incoherent. This video reminds me of the notion that "video killed the radio star" when I watch Dave sing.

On a barely related note I am going to go get my first tattoos in a week or two. Then i am taking my babies mama to Vegas and having my way with her.

They played parts of the video backward to get effects like that, I believe.

I'm a much, much bigger fan of the original VH lineup than the Van Hagar version, but this just sucks.

DLR has misplaced his mojo in a big way.

Oh, and dropping Michael Anthony for Wolfgang? Pure suck.

You nailed it. Dropping Michael Anthony was a HUGE mistake. From what I understand, the guy pretty much did 100% of the backing vocals for VH. IMO it doesn't even sound like a VH song without him. People can bag on Hagar all they want, anything off of 5150 or Four Unlawful Carnel Knowledge blow Tatoo out of the water. It is beyond horrible.

Eddie Van Halen is completely burned out - he lost his edge years ago and his guitar riffs are boring and stale.

This album should have happened 16 years ago when DLR briefly rejoined the band for the Greatest Hits album; but Eddie's ego wouldn't allow it. Back then they might have had a chance. Way too late now.

I'm not sure about the vocals but Michael Anthony sucked as a bass player. I think one of the worst kept secrets in rock and roll is that EVH played most of the bass parts on their studio albums.

Although I'm sure the only reason Wolfgang is in there is so that Eddie doesn't have to pay him as much as Anthony would have made.

Band that wasn't that good in the 80's sucks even worse 30 years (and tons of drugs) later? Surprising.

One of my favorite VH songs. From 1984:

And another. Both of these blow the new one out of the water and these aren't even the singles off their albums:

Sure the song kind of sucks but van Halen still rocks harder than anyone here

As a lifetime VH fan, I wasn't really blown away by this song. It seems like filler vs. a single.

The lyrics are extremely non-sensical even by DLR's standards. I'm hoping the album as a whole is better.

If they are going to simply retool old demos, they should have used 'She's the Woman' - much better song.

Are you sure that Eddie playing bass on studio albums wasn't more about him being an egomaniacal control-freak, as opposed to Anthony being a crappy bass player? Anthony seemed to manage playing those songs live for 20+ years just fine.

I'm not saying Anthony is the greatest bass player ever, but he was a big part of VH's signature sound and while listening to this new song, it's pretty obvious that they're missing him. Sometimes a band as a whole is greater than the sum of it's parts. IMO they are missing alot without Anthony.
