He looks rough mechanically but he has a motor and can hit the three. He also rebounds. He's 24 so the cement is hardening, however. . .

He’s got good size and plays with a lot of energy. I’d be surprised if with the right coaching that could not be harnessed to make him a fairly effective player on defense too.

Portis has become a horrible defender. Shockingly so I might say. He was supposed to be versatile and high impact and high energy defender coming out of college and he's turned into something completely different. He makes no plays, his effort is questionable, he hasn't turned into a rim protector and is lackluster on the perimeter.

He's a modern tweener. Not quick enough to guard 4's and no rim protection ability.

Portis would be a good fit offensively and I'm sure Quin and the coaching staff could improve his defense. If we could get him for around $12-13 million and still have $5-6 million to sign someone else I think we should do it.

See, if I am a team like the Kings, he is worth 6 million or so just to play with and against my youngsters.

Thad young is interesting. If you think the Lakers are the team most likely to give us trouble Thad is built well to guard LeBron. Good three point percentage but doesn’t take them enough... not sure he’s a good shooter.

If we pivot from Favs I think my favorites in order are: Gay, Green (he’s the cheapest), young, Portis...

I think I’d rather keep Favs than pay Portis what he thinks he’s worth.
