News, rumors and buzz around the draft and free agency

Good for the Grizzlies. Guess they're hoping a loser in the Kawhi stakes will want Iggy as a consolation prize.
Will they, though? I doubt they would put a lot on the table (like $17M) for Iggy with no Kawhi. Anyway, Grizz will have to pay him anyway (although the way I read the salary cap wikipedia stuff, they might end up with less towards the cap), so why not just use the services? In a perfect (for the Grizzlies) world, they can fight for the playoffs, although I really doubt it.
Can probably say the same about Boogie. He's probably betting one of the LA teams pays him $10M after losing out on Kawhi.
Yeah, I guess. I just hope he doesn't end up with the Warriors at the minimum. I don't want them good.

I don't have a dog in this JFC fight. I'm cool keeping Dante and I'm cool trading him if a good deal comes along. But mark my words.... I'm sure as **** gonna laugh my *** off at certain people around here if he pans out and the Jazz FO was right all along.

We've still got some prime real estate on Dante Island. Best investment you'll ever make, guaranteed(-ish)!

Gotta admire the way Memphis is milking that Conley trade:

-2 1sts, Allen, Crowder, Korver, 25M TPE from us
-then they used part of the TPE to absorb Iguodala and GSW 1st
-then they used the rest of the TPE, Korver's contract to absorb Josh Jackson, Melton and 2 PHX 2nd round picks(which are likely to be good seconds because PHX is trash)
-and now they are trying to trade Iggy for another 1st...

So when they draw the line if they succeed they might have:
-4 1sts, Allen(1st from last year). Crowder
-Josh Jackson, De'Anthony Melton, 2 PHX second rounders

There is a real chance they can get at least 2 other seconds for Crowder if not a 1st.

Huge props to their FO ... this is a masterclass in maximizing aging asset.

Ya
Thats bad ***. That is how you should operate. Pisses me off the Jazz wouldnt ever do it. They totally dropped the ball when it came to that.

I'm not sure when we had those opportunities. Grizzlies are probably tanking this year, so they can throw everything out the window for assets. Utah have been, or at least have tried to be, competitive every year (more or less), and I love that about this franchise. It's okay to "tank" when you are terrible anyway, but if you have a decent team, I don't think it's cool at all.

Demarcus cousins for the vet min. We would potentially have one of the best benches in the league if we picked him up. He’s a low risk high reward player for that kind of money. He could really prove himself this next season, and show other teams he’s still worth a big contract. I’d rather see him in a Jazz jersey than a Lakers jersey

Nah. I disagree. If you know anything about basketball and know that your team is flawed and cant ever compete for a championship you should part it out and rebuild.

We have had many chances over the years. Starting with when we traded away Deron Williams. Right then and there they should have started it. Such as moving Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap. Especially since they had newly aquired bigs to develop. There was no reason to believe that the team was going anywhere. It was also hurting the development of your new assets. Its was an easy choice what to do. Instead they made the wrong decision and chose to be very mediocre and then watch assest walk that you knew were gone anyways.

I dont give a **** what anyone says. Thats was garbage management.

Why would he do this when he can make more elsewhere?

It has nothing to do with knowledge about basketball. Clearly, everyone involved at any significant position in an NBA team knows a lot about basketball.
I don't know about other people, I just know what I want, but I want a team that competes and tries, I detest tanking, both because it's detrimental to the sport, but also because it takes away years of interesting NBA basketball.

I don't live in the US, so I haven't seen a lot of games live, but I have a brother in the Bay Area (already a Warriors fan before he moved, actually), so I've been to three or four GSW games. One was against the Hornets in the tanking season when they narrowly avoided giving us the Harrison Barnes draft pick, and that game was _terrible_ to watch. There was hardly anyone involved, from players to fans, who wanted to win. I don't give **** what anyone says, that's terrible, terrible entertainment.

Maybe we should, maybe we shouldn't. Lots of teams have attempted what you preach, and some of them succeed, but the majority do not. Instead, the Jazz have stayed relevant (and in Utah!) for all these years, while the teams like the Kings are not.

Well, that's like, your opinion, man.

Woj is saying there’s no market for him, and he might not even get the mid level he got last year. So if Woj is right, he might be going for the vet min. Unless the lakers don’t sign Kawhi and offer Cousins more
