What's new

Next years projected lineup

Brewer doesn't fill a need for us. He doesn't shoot well. No one knows how he is doing after his injury, his biggest asset was his athletic ability and that may be hampered after the injury. Plus we are shooting our wad on Jefferson. If we want to upgrade this roster if Jefferson goes down then I can't see it happening without moving AK.

If you start Sap and Jefferson you can't start AK. In fact as much as that combo might work on defense we would get killed by zone's. Damn Korver would be nice to have..........
Um, it's very possible that Hayward will be nicer to have. It might take years for GH to be as sharpshooting as KK, but I see him being a better defender--if for no other reasons that he's a bit taller and that he wears his socks a little lower on his calves ;).

Summer league isn't a definitive indicator, but it's a good sign.

I totally agree that CJ isn't our 2. At this point, assuming Matthews, who I would love in this line-up, is gone, we need to sign a cheap combo of Brewer and Brown or the equivalent. The offense won't come from Brewer, but depending on the match-ups he'd need to just play decent defense and take what he could get. I also don't see Memo starting, especially after his injury, unless match-ups dictate it for some reason. I'd see the probable line-up as such:

Deron/Price
Brewer/Brown/or cheap alternatives
Miles/AK/Haywood
Sap/AK/KK
Big Al/Memo/KK and Fes (I also think Fes gets more burn against teams like the Lakers)

If that's our starting lineup then we'll lose. A LOT. Only 1 player on that starting lineup is consistent from outside with one other semi decent outside shooter. Your lineup sucks bad. Memo over sap or some sort of SG that can actually shoot is a must if Sap and Jefferson are your starting front court. I am hoping for Harrington still. And depending on salary maybe Brown. But not Brewer.

Deron and Miles can both shoot outside. But our game would go inside more, obviously, if we had Big Al and Sap down low. Brown and Brewer would be interchangable and bring different looks. If you have Deron, Brown, and Miles out there you spread the floor more. If AK is playing well you add another shooter at the 3-4.

Nobody is stepping out to guard Miles unless he gets hot. I am a huge fan of his but face it he needs to shoot better outside. If Brewer is in your lineup why would the guys respect the pick and role. You will have 4 players in the lane everytime they run it and that assumes that Miles' man is staying on him.

Basically with very few shooting threats (I don't count the PG as he needs to run the PnR) then how are they going to get looks inside. The only reason it worked (sort of) with Brewer before is because Memo was in the game. Without Memo, Brewer is worthless.

If Jazz get Jefferson, Hayward starts at SG?

This would give Jazz outside shooting to open things up for Jefferson and another ball handler passer to open things up also. Hayward wouldn't be as big a rookie target and could stay on floor longer. Seems like a real possibility now.
