NFL Survival Pool

NE did go undefeated. Prior to the Super Bowl.
My bad. I was thinking of Indy in 2009. Undefeated through 14 games, I believe, then rested their starters for most of the remaining 2 games. And NO had a run of 13 wins before losing and tanked before going on to win the SB.

I'm taking the Eagles in all five this week. They're coming off two straight losses, the last of which was tough to swallow, need a win, Vick seems to have that, I'm pissed and am gonna go for a 100 yards+ rushing, 300+ passing, and 5 total td's game swag to him this week, and the Niners are coming in a little higher than they're accustomed to.

If he starts, I'm taking them. If not, I'll switch it.

They do have a win, a top five defense as of now, are playing at home and Brees usually has two or three brainfart games a year where he loses it with dumb turnovers. I'm not saying it will happen. In fact, versus rookie Blaine Gabbert, that Saints offense should be able to outscore the Jags no matter what. But I worry a little and would rather save the Saints.

GB and TB are locks, but I'm leaning toward the Rams. I can't pull the trigger yet, but every time I think of Rex Grossman and Tim Hightower I get a little closer.

Billy, you're usually pretty level-headed. There's no such thing as a lock. If I used the term earlier, ignore my post.

Wait...you're leaning toward taking the Rams in a Survival Pool? I'm picking them to win, but there's no ****ing way I would take them as my Survival Pool pick.

I said leaning. It's my gambler chromosome barking at me. It's saying, "Get the Rams off the board, do it, do it." I think the Rams might win 4 games this season. But I don't want to have to figure out which lucky wins they are. The Redskins are a mirage. (See, my gambler chromosome has a hold of me even as I type this.)

You probably know this, but I am a Rams fan. When I looked at their opening schedule, I wrote them off as a team that would see .500. They can still win the division, but they're damn young. They shoot themselves in the foot at the exact wrong time (Bradford fumbling vs. Philly, Cadillac Williams standing there after dropping a lateral). They're close but they're still far away. The thing I worry about is what happened last week against Baltimore in that they took such a beating that I worry about them bouncing back. Getting the Redskins will be a nice test, which is why I picked them but even my innermost degenerate gambler is staying away from that Survival pick. The cajones it would take to make that pick are not onions, more like coconuts.

I wish I had you with me in Atlantic City last weekend. I was making all kinds of Rams bets at the blackjack tables and paying the price. I'll probably take Green Bay and move on.

Someone convince me to take the Bucs. I'd prefer to do that and save the Eagles. Because I still don't trust the Bucs and still think of them as, well, the Bucs. Plus, I don't like counting on a team that constantly has to win games in the last two minutes.
