NFL Thread

You first said their moves are head scratching then proceed to list all the sensible moves they’ve made to improve the team.

That’s very…. head scratching.. lol..

Look we’re in a transition period, they’ve made the best of what they’ve got. Like i’ve said many times on this thread, their goal is to get a franchise QB out of the next year’s loaded QB draft. They’ve basically got Rodgers for free so they’re seeing if they can catching lightning in a bottle this year with him.

If not then no big deal, let him walk and reset.

It’s better than sitting around and stagnate.

It’s gonna be damn tough to get a franchise qb in next year’s draft if they go 9-8 and end up with the 17th pick.

They have about 4 comp picks they’ve amassed for next year’s draft to use to move up.

The GM planned for it.

Also I think there are about 5-6 legit QB talent and not that many teams will be needing to pick a QB.

Comp picks are from the end of the 3rd round down. They’re not going to help you move up much.

@The Midnight

Here’s my guess what happens for all the qb prospects…
Arch—goes back to school
Klubnick-drafted 1st overall
Allar-drafted top five—he’ll bust
Nussmeier-drafted top eight
Leavitt-goes back to school
Sellers-goes back to school

I think you’ll have a real shot at Mateer or Mendoza or the Baylor kid. You could move up but if you’re drafting 19th, you’d have to give up a ton to move up.

Well what if you offer say x3 4th round picks to move up to say 8th to pick up Nussmeier?

Would a team needing depth not take that deal?

I think that would be a fair deal for both sides.

You would need to trade pick 19, your 2027 1st, and probably a 3rd rounder as well to move up to pick 8.

Well then you promise the other guys going back to school and move up to say #12 to take him.

I mean who wouldnt want to star as the Steelers QB for the next 10 years?

You make a promise to one of the guys going back to school to entice him to stay in the draft.

There’s no guarantee he’d fall to you. Again, you guys aren’t swimming in picks next year. You have one 1st and one 2nd. Thirds and fourths don’t carry that much value.

The Browns will suck and have two 1sts.

Stafford is old and the Rams have two 1sts next year (one of which is mediocre Atlanta’s) in order to move up and draft their future qb.

The Saints should blow chunks and I’m guessing will give up after one year of the Tyler Shough experiment and draft a qb in the top 8.

The Jets should be really bad with Fields at qb this season.

That’s four teams who almost certainly will be able to draft higher than Pitt lest Pitt trades two future 1sts on top of their 2026 1st.

Then, the Colts and/or Raiders imo will draft a qb. Miami and the Jags could draft a qb. There’s probably 1-2 more teams who could as well. The Cards. Maybe someone else.
