Non-flattering Article on Deron Williams

I hate Duh Ron as much as the next guy, but that article was pretty poor.

It will always be difficult for me to understand his decision to give up on the Utah Jazz, where he forced a trade in early 2011.

It's easy to forget that in 2007, Williams led the Jazz to the Western Conference finals, where they lost to the eventual NBA champion San Antonio Spurs. I hardly remember that, probably because it must have been a crappy NBA season if the Spurs won the championship.

Read these 2 parts and didn't want to go on realizing I'd just be hearing more nonsense.

PF: Favors
C: Lopez

Now that's an exciting young core of players for sure.

But does that beat DWill, J.Johnson & Dwight (if they can pull it off)? Not a chance.

Only problem is that Deron didn't request a trade. He was completely surprised by it. I'm sure in that over-inflated head of his, he thought he'd kick back in Utah through the end of the season, then be shopped in the summer. Or that the Jazz thought him so key to their success, that he'd play the rest of the next season, Utah would beg him to stay and he'd "make a decision" just like LeBron. Funny thing is, had it not been for the trade to Brooklyn, I think he would have gone to Dallas. He's young enough that he'll get another big contract, so I doubt the extra year Utah would have been able to offer would have made a difference in him staying with the Jazz vs. leaving as an UFA.

I hope this isn't even supposed to be editorial journalism. Deron should probably call his lawyers to get this taken down and this dude shamed.

The guy could still be right, but I doubt that and I know he pulled the basis of this article out of his ***.

Deron didn't request a trade, but, he wouldn't commit to staying either. He was basically asking the Jazz to cross their fingers and hope they didn't lose him for nothing.

Sounds like it.
Besides, what team in ANY sport doesn't spend like crazy when they move into a new arena or stadium? Even the miserly Clippers have tried to improve since moving to the Staples Center. Nothing wrong with trying to put out a winning product, especially when a competitor plays one borough over.

He does have a point about overpaying for Wallace, Johnson and Lopez, though.

This guy is so negative and such a jerk that I couldn't resist writing a letter to the editors. I know it's full of vitriol, but this writer deserves it for writing such b.s.

You guys ought to be shot for publishing this trash. The writer not merely insults everyone mentioned but makes blatant errors and indecipherable comments.

Who said Deron Williams gave up on Utah or he asked for a trade – neither happened; it was as much of a shock to him that he got traded as it was to everyone else.

I didn’t realize that the 2007 NBA season was so “crappy” because Spurs won the championship. Is that because the writer is too young to remember it or because he hates the Spurs.

He seems to hate a lot of people, like Joe Johnson is a B-List predator. And Billy King assembled the current Nets team by “striking out.” Also, Howard is a “non-substantive” superstar – I know it’s meant to be a pejorative, but what does it mean?

And I’d also like a translation of the following: “ … the Nets spent the past two seasons as the most literal group of assets that any professional franchise has presented to their few remaining fans.” Literal group of assets?

“There isn't really any artistry in his management …. It was about finding trade partners that were willing to accept a pupu platter in exchange for their overpriced assets.” Well, damn, we know just about everyone in the NBA is overpriced but I think everyone is worth more than a pupu platter – or is he saying poo-poo as in poop, that the Nets were offering ****. How can you print such crap?

And yes, the new GMs got jobs by mentioning a desire to 'change the culture,' as if they were writing an essay to secure an MBA from the University of Phoenix. Huhh, what does writing an essay to secure an MBA have to with getting a GM job.

And I think this comment says it all about the level of this writer, as this stage in the game: “Not every team can be the Little Incubation Project That Could, better known as the Oklahoma City Thunder.” Did one of your sons in grade school write this, perhaps?

And a fitting end to a horrible article: His underdog story will serve as the inspiration that guides the Nets to their eventual playoff exit. This guy really hates the Nets.

I think you better find some better writers. Because this guy really sucks.

I hate Deron as much as the next guy but I have to agree with most everybody here that this "article" felt like complete speculative ******** with no facts to back up his words.

Like Numb said, if I were Deron, I'd consider going fullcourt press at this for possible libel. At least, that's what I think you meant Numb as I skimmed here. The problem is, unless it's kept low, it may just make Deron look like more of douche in many people's eyes.
