This isn't true. When the Rockets started having issues with Barkley and Drexler, in March (both stopped traveling with the team on 3/24 that season), Houston was just 36-31 and it took a five-game win streak against zero playoff teams that year to even get to that point.The Rockets were the 8 seed that year because of injuries. They were absolutely one of the best teams in the West at full strength, which they were for the first 3.2 games of that series.
At no moment was Houston ever one of the top teams in the West that year. The best they were was 12-5 in December. After that, they were *** most the rest of the year.
