What's new

Norm Chow to Hawaii.

Lol. Okay. But what happened to their admittance to the Pac-12 helping their recruiting efforts too? But yeah, who's to say it wouldn't have been 118th ranked. Moran.
Getting in to the Pac 12 absolutely did help their recruiting. Having Chow also helped their recruiting. Rivals may not say it (before the recruiting is even finished) but it doesn't change the FACT that several recruits said they chose Utah because they were in the Pac 12, and several others either said Chow recruited them or they chose Utah because of Chow. Moran.

Again, rivals saying Utah's recruiting class this year (so far) is worse than last years is NOT the same thing as saying Chow didn't help Utah's recruiting. Especially when rovals has ranked Utah's recruiting class lower than the previous year for the last several years now.

Denial folks. It's a bitch.

Not denial at all. I said Chow sucked and I have been saying it almost all year. But to say he literally did NOTHING for Utah, well, you're the one in denial.

And yet there recruiting is still down 10 slots from last year. Can't wait 'til the 2013 class falls outside of the top 50!!!

Per Rivals, who has consistently been wrong about Utah's recruiting classes.

So I guess according to SalmonHobo, the only thing that matters for a recruit is how good rivals says they are. Utah sending more players to the NFL than most other Pac 12 schools (4th most) doesn't mean anything, because rivals consistently has their recruiting class lower than all of the others.

How wrong they've been? According to what? You? That's right. Salty > All.

Another SalmonHobo straw man. I never said I was the end all be all of final decisions on class rankings. I said Utah has consistently put more players from each class in the NFL than other schools that rivals ranked higher. And I also said coach Whitt said the folks at rivals didn't know anything, and if they did they would be coaching. (Whitt was actually much harsher. He said something along the lines of "Those guys don't know anything. If they did they would be coaching. They would be rich. They're actually broke and spend their time playing on the internet and pretending they know something.)

I agree with Whitt. Just because rivals says that in their opinion Utah had a worse recruiting class than some other school, it doesn't make it a proven fact. Especially if Utah goes to beat said school almost every time they play them and then send more kids to the NFL than that school. History shows the true rankings of the class. Rivals prediction is just their own best guess at what history will eventually say. And if you can't understand that, then you're a moran. I'm pretty sure you do understand that though, so you need some intellectual honesty.

Putting more players in the NFL does not mean they had a better recruiting class. Nor does the team's success. As you like to say, it "doesn't make it a proven fact." It could mean that Whitt is just better than some other coaches at getting the best out of his players. It could mean Utah has played in a joke of a conference for years and stockpiled easy wins. Oh yeah, but I'm sure they would have only gone 7-4 in the MWC. And Whitt saying the site means **** is laughable. Rivals and Scout are the two premiere scouting websites. And for the record, Scout has Utah's recruiting class at 54th. Keep it up Chow!

Putting more players in the NFL may not mean Utah had a better recruiting class, but it is a heck of a lot more important than rivals giving their opinion. It's hilarious that you come in here with "rivals says this year's recruiting class is worse than last year's, therefore it must be true, and that proves Chow was terrible" and then say "putting more players in the NFL does not mean they had a better recruiting class."

And stockpiling easy wins in a crappy conference has zero to do with players getting drafted in the NFL. Nobody cares what your college record was at NFL combines. See Brian Johnson (MVP of the Utes Sugar Bowl victory and most wins by a QB in Utes history). He did not get drafted.

Nice try, but you're still not making any sense.

So we've come to this. I think Chow was a positive for Utah recruiting (and scouting reports, tips, etc) for Utah entering the Pac 12. You think since rivals says Utah had a worse recruiting class this year (so far) than last year that means he was horrible and a mistake.

I don't care what rivals says anyway. I appreciate their info and find it interesting, but I don't think they're the word of god or anything when they are ranking players and recruiting classes. However, even if I did think they were the final say with 100% accuracy, it still wouldn't mean Chow was a mistake or he didn't help Utah or whatever. As I pointed out, Utah was already trending down (in the rivals recruiting rankings) long before they had Chow. So it is then pretty stupid to blame Chow for them getting a lower ranking one year, when Chow was only here for less than a year and they were already trending down before he came anyway.

Oh, and by the way, saying Whitt's opinion is laughable is REALLY what is laughable. Whitt has proven over and over again that he knows more than those guys. And what he said is spot on, if they really knew what they claim to know then they'd be making a whole lot more money in the coaching ranks than the peanuts they make at rivals.

I didn't want you to think I was evading this post. I want to enjoy the holidays and so I'll avoid it for now and address it in a few days.

According to www.rivals.com, they had the 32nd best recruiting class in 2010. The 37th in 2011. Their current crop sits at 47th. Yeah, he really helped to point them in the right direction.

He may have initially helped but his departure and their lower current class tells me recruits and perhaps their coaches alike realize Chow's a basic nobody and his presence and now, lack thereof, means **** to the program.
Update: Rivals has Utah at 28th right now, with several 4 stars still possible.
