This poll sucks.

How about this one?

Does NAOS suck a lot or a whole lot?

poor sport.

Also a Wildcat. coincidence?

PKM would like to "donate" a lot of money to the cause that would have us consider his question over the OP.

I would hope so, as the author of said poll..

Btw, you still out there (traveling)?

Na, back in California... trying to get some writing done. If I'm a good boy I get to travel again soon.... but that is 200 good pages from now. Oy.

Writing for your profession, yes?

Yes.
I'm trying to justify (to granting agencies) a new research project. If all goes well, then I'll be able to take off from the university for 1.5+ years. Dope.

Cool. Would love to know the subject if it can ever be shared.

very generally...
It has to do with the distribution of caregiving in Los Angeles + with how healing is imagined.
LA is a bit of a frontier when it comes to "New Age" or alternative forms of care, so I'm hoping to do some kind of apprenticeship with a couple of these "psychics" + do a study of the science of mainstream/State sponsored care. In LA, many people are using many different modalities of caregiving, so it is interesting to see the "menu" of options (I say "menu" because of the history of privacy and informed consent in medical practice becoming more of a "consumer choice" in medical affairs).

^ quick nutshell ^

That went over my head. Alternative medicine?

Also, when you are traveling to islands .. is it relevant to the LA topic?

My traveling to the Caribbean has become more of a hobby than a professional development thing.

Alternative care? Like, when you see a Chinese herbalist instead of an MD. Or, like when you see some New Age psychic. Have you heard of "New Age" stuff? It's huge in California.

Yeah, that's what I thought you meant, just making sure. Did you say the state funds psychics in place of traditional medicine? Or were you saying that you see that coming in the future?

No, I was positioning psychics as alternative to state-sponsored and mainstream care. But, I also said that, more and more, people are using multiple options in the course of one "treatment." So, the economy of care is multiple.

Well gentlemen, looks like this thread went to **** in an awful hurry.

Correct answer is: I couldn't give two ****s about that old man, and the ****er keeps stalking me.
