Freud fell out of favor because psychology became more and more concerned with evidence as opposed to arm chair philosophizing. The same thing happened with practically every field of human inquiry. Freud was problematic, for sure, but the feverish demand for universally recognizable patterns, which forms the very basis for more "scientific" schools of psychology, is also sickening. I probably took that a bit personally since you were reducing some of what I consider the most insightful commentary in the history of "the West" into a couple of toss-away comments. My bad. --That kind of stuff is kind of fun to be bratty about, though, so I keep doing it.
