What's new

Yeah it almost feels on the down low they were more interested in showcasing Conley, Gay, Beas, JC last night than giving minutes to the younger legs.
The alternative is Hardy was so desperate for a win he would risk wearing down the vet players..I doubt it but what do I know...
At least Simone go his feet wet. NAW only getting 5 minutes last night against the Houston kids kinda tells you where he stands. Agbaji couldn't get any playing time that might be a little concerning.

Obviously THT has some questionable decision making at times, but he also makes a lot of great passes. It's not perfect on offense by any means but he's getting better. His defense has been near elite.

I really don't get the THT slander
He's a weird *** player man. You can do stuff that is bad and have it go unnoticed... you can do weird **** that is bad and it sticks out like a sore thumb. I think he is much better than NAW who is just regular bad and not weird bad.

He does a ton of great stuff on the court as well. Absolutely no one on this team outside of Vanderbilt can play defense the way THT does.

He does have blinders on some of his drives, but when he doesn't over commit to the bully bally drive, he can make some nice simple reads for drive and kicks (or like yesterday when he drew the double team on the perimeter and used his length to wrap a pass around the defender to Vando at the nail who swung it to the corner for the open 3, great hockey assist that he created) His spot up 3pt shooting has even looked clean.

Hes well worth developing. There's a lot there to tap into.

I'd much rather watch THT or Fontecchio whose games have room to grow than Gay who doesn't have the legs to keep up with Houston's athletes.. Even if it wasn't a back to back I could say fairly confidently Gay cannot defend the athletic kids Houston was throwing out there.

I'm fine with him playing. He has made some awesome defensive plays. Most are negated with dumb turnovers or when he drives into a pack with no plan and has open shooter on the perimeter. Go on a develop him... it will definitely lead to loses.

I agree, it's a bad sign that Hardy is too invested in the win vs. developing players and giving sensible minutes to the veterans. Red flag.
I'd say it's too early for a red flag but call me cautious. I saw too much of this during Quin's years. If I were on the bench watching the lack of effort against a lower level team, I would have been frustrated to not be playing. When there is a lack of energy, bring in some energy. Not too difficult. But it's only the fourth game...

THT has been one of our best perimeter defenders, possibly our best, but for some reason this board likes to constantly **** talk him.
He's been ok on defense, I wouldn't consider him great. He gets lost at times and also reaches in/fouls too much. He is unique in his ability to defend both on the perimeter and in the paint, making him one of our most versatile defenders, although I wouldn't call him great at either.

His build reminds me a bit of Grant Williams. He's all about that base. Dat booty! His defense looks above average. But he makes very bobbleheaded plays on offense. It sometimes looks like he has no clue what he is doing when he drives. He leaves his feet with no where to go. He doesn't layup the ball, he throws it at the rim and prays. He doesn't look like a point guard but he brings the ball up consistently. I expect many Shaqt'n the fool moments from THT.

He is a project, no doubt and may pan out. If not, no biggie. I think the sentiment here is about his offense and the fact that there are other players that we would like to see. Release the OCH!!!

THT's arms are just so freaky long. That helps him tremendously to cause havoc on the defensive end.

With that said Houston and the Pels (before Ingram went out of the game) are the archetypes of where this league is heading. Both are full of length and athleticism.

Hopefully Jazz can draft a few of these lengthy, skilled types in the next few drafts as that is something this team is missing and will need to compete moving forward. Someone like NAW looks the part on paper but the reality is another story.

He's got a DBPM of 2.6 through 4 games (best on the team). I know advanced stats arent really useful across small sample sizes, but it agres with my eye test that his D has been very very good.
