What's new

If you can't enjoy this win for what it is – with no ifs, buts, irony, sarcasm, winks or passive-aggressive posts about keeping the pick while your main guy goes for 51 points... you're LOST.

This right here is the meaning of basketball.
Same could be said for three years ago which people came to understand was bad after they sobered up.

That happened with one of the oldest rosters in the NBA with near zero prospects for the long term. Implying these situations are somehow similar is more than foolish.

One of the oldest rosters in the NBA? Lol

The broader point is fine-ish… except the bright spots you’re talking about are players we had on the roster that year.

We likely need to offload Svi somewhere. There will likely be an injury or two during the season that will help with the tank. Right now I think this is a 30 win team. Some of the progress is fantastic. We just can't have any help from vets that don't matter to the long term.

Swapping Svi minutes for Ace/Cody might end up being the difference in 4-5 of these close wins. Last night was already one.

We have played two rat teams and one team that apparently took Nyquil before the game... but still... never too early to have a full blown tankxiety attack.

“Tankxiety” is a concept that revolves around anxiety over loss of a high draft pick. DeWembyfication is another term for that idea. We must understand human emotions, much like a Treatise on Human Nature would do.

Boxing out probably makes more sense in the basketball normal humans play. Rebounds spend a lot more time in the air and positioning is important.

In the NBA, everyone is so big, long and quick that just trusting your athleticism and hanging out near the rim may be a better option. By boxing out, you may take yourself out of the play too... while some other dude swoops in and snatches the ball right off the rim.

I think for now I'm just going to be happy living in the place where I can cheer and enjoy games with my dudes playing hard and trying to win and surprising people. I find I have missed that surprisingly much.

In the back of my head I know that long-term, getting the wins is not in line with the team strategy and will probably lead to some crappy outcome. Either contusion-itis or trading away a dude that can drop 50 for some draft picks that convey in 4 years, or consigning ourselves to mediocre-ville for the next 5 years or so.

For now, I can hide that away and just file it off as someone else's job to deal with. Hold on to the slight golden hope that we manage to avoid all the hijinks, keep Lauri, skate just low enough to stay in the lottery, and then win it. Or somehow an Ainge can pull off some trade magic that makes us contenders.

Future's for the future, I'm enjoying the present while its here, who knows how long it'll last.

Am I the only one driven insane at how the front court players don’t box out?

Even Kessler, just doesn’t box out. Drives me nuts.
Doesn't bother me how the rebound is achieved. Kessler is one of the best rebounders in the nba so whatever he is doing is working.

Are we sure he's missed one or are they stats keepers ganging up against him? I'm leaning on the latter one.
He missed one last night.......... but it looked good and barely missed.

Excellent post. Thanks for the reminder that us fans aren't the ones that have to deal with all the what-ifs (though this board would be less entertaining). I can just sit back and enjoy the team.
