Off-season 2020 Conley Trade Ideas

Ya that would be crazy huh? Trading for the guy they would’ve tried to sign on a similar contract had the sizers not traded for him and we had not traded for Conley.

You know we made that same offer? And that we signed Royce since then? And (stupidly) added another year to Joe? And that the coronavirus is still going on?

That extra year to Joe's deal ain't looking so sweet right now. I understood why they did it at the time (kind of).

If we got Harris I think we'd move Bojan.

At this point we have to accept that Conley is very likely (95% IMO) not to be traded.
I can see only two possible deals (I actually don't think we could make a trade with Philly)
Mike + (....) for OPJ + (...) more likely
Mike + (....) for CP3 + (...) less likely
But I really don't know if these could work as I'm not very knowledgeable on trades...
Actually I think a trade for CP3 is more likely. It just makes too much sense for OKC to do a deal for Conley. They save money in a year, plus with SGA being their future and also having Schroeder, it would be much easier to have Conley come off the bench than Paul

I really like CP3 (love watching his plays), and so I wouldn't mind doing this trade, but actually I don't know if Utah really want to get the whole CP3 deal.
I mean, It will be a very uncomfortable situation having to pay about $44,000,000 to Paul in 2021-2022 season (while Mike deal will finish next year).
This is the big flaw of this trade, and that's why it doesn't seem to me very likely.

OKC was REALLY good this year after like the first dozen games. Paul wants to be there. They were very good with him. It’s stupid to think they’d want to trade him. With a little organic growth from the young guys and one decent cheap pickup to be their 7th or 8th man, they could be a 55 win team next year.

Maybe, but at the same time he’s no spring Chicken anymore, how much longer will he be elite, which means they’re stuck with that contract with no way to improve the team for the future wasting years of SGA.

Not that I’d really want to do this though, I just think Wes Manbun is wrong idiot!

Except Gallo probably walks... they are building around SGA and what else? They need to tank and rebuild... their best players are on the downside of their careers... some dangerously close to huge decline. CP won't play every game like he did this year. Adams looks to be slowing down... although he is younger than most think. IF they can clear space and get stuff for CP, Adams, Gallo (sign and trade) they will be much better off long term.

I wouldn't do CP for Conley right now. I would have done it earlier in the year maybe... but not getting him for this playoff run makes a big difference. This is the healthiest CP will be going into the playoffs. I could see them making some noise.

I don't think so.
IMO OKC will try to trade CP3 and plan to build a "long-term" team...

When they did the deal with Houston the got a bunch of picks because CP looked washed and he was negative value. If they can shave a year off of his contract or get a small asset for taking on similar but worse money it’d be a huge win. I think CP to NY makes a lot of sense. He may strangle the young guys but they’d win some games.

What can they build around? SGA, Schröder, Adams, and a couple other young guys like Diallo who could improve a lot. And oh yeah, Paul.

They might run it back, but it will be delaying the needed pivot/rebuild. Paul is 35... Gallo was a big part of their success and has struggle with injuries throughout his career... you paying that guy at 32?

Schroder and Adams are fine, but they are who they are at this point in their career. Diallo is bad... their other young guys don't project to be anything worth planning around.

There most likely future core is SGA and whoever they pick with all the future picks they collected. They would have moved Gallo at the deadline but he wanted an extension that Miami wouldn't give him. They are headed to a rebuild. Their success this year was a nice bonus but not something they are banking on.

Banking on, no? But totally dismantling the team because Paul is older? No, too imo.
