Official Draft Thread

Is there any reason the Jazz wouldn't want Jefferson? ...maybe his number suffered having to share the frontcourt with Love but I seem to remember Jefferson being a stud.

I like to say he's like Carlos Boozer, just with worse offense and worse defense.

Knees. It's also why the TWolves have floated Love, not Jefferson. They can get value for Love, not so much with Jefferson.

Ross Siler Tweets:

Hassan Whiteside was a jaw-dropper in conversation, said he struggled in today's workout.

Cole Aldrich said he's measured taller than he did at Chicago combine at pretty much every workout stop.

Jazz seem to have strong comfort level with Aldrich, Monroe, Henry and Udoh at No. 9.

Has this already been brought up? I went to nba.com/jazz and it shows "2010 NBA Mock Draft 1.0 - Lottery Results" linked to the Jazz site.

https://www.nba.com/jazz/features/draft2010_mockdraft01.html

I suspect it was done by someone from the Jazz or Locke, not sure, but for Pick #9 it says:

#9 Jazz: well ... as of right now I stick to OUR needs, a big man... ED DAVIS. A little unproven in this reporters opinion, but some scouts are still high on his "upside". Wait till after workouts to get more info on Ed Davis; but he does fill a need, and possesses good athleticism at the 4-spot.

So the OUR Part makes me think it's a Jazz guy doing the Mock Draft. They also have Aldrich and Monroe going 6 and 7.

So maybe that's why they have Ed Davis as their pick.

I know it's a little old, 05/26, but it is on the Jazz' website. Just throwing that out there too.

I forgot to add at the bottom of the page it says this "*the opinions of this article are not necessarily those of the Utah Jazz"

More Siler tweets, probably explaining the "jaw-dropping":

Whiteside claimed there's a lot that teams don't know about him. Like what? “That I’m a good guy. That I’m willing to work hard.”

What other schools recruited him besides Marshall? West Virginia, Kentucky, Memphis, UConn, Xavier . . . yet he went to Marshall?

How'd the workout go? “I didn’t think I did that good.” What's the process of working out for teams been like? "Tiring."

One WTF answer after another to reporters. Jazz didn't sit down with Whiteside in Chicago at last month's combine.

Marreese Speights previously had been the gold standard for workout interviews, expressing surprise there was actually a real city in Utah.

Speights famously (at least locally) said he was expecting to see "cows" when he arrived in Salt Lake for workout with the Jazz.

Cole Aldrich on Ostertag comparisons: "I like to think I might be slightly better looking than Greg."

Cole Aldrich: "Coach Sloan is a real tough coach, but that’s awesome." Compared playing for Sloan to playing for Bill Self at Kansas.

Did you catch Aldrich's "random fact" that Utah has 147,000 miles of shoreline? Kid is brilliant.

Aldrich was later spotted in the locker room talking with Ostertag about what the best way to dupe the Jazz into picking him was. Greg had a lot of insight and even offered pointers on how he could fool them into giving him a big contract down the road.

I don't have a problem with Whiteside's answers at all. He's being frank instead of telling people what they want to hear. He's not stupid.

Lakes have shores, right? I think there might be a lake or two in Utah. How much lakeshore would there be?

I realize that, but he obviously got the number wrong. Unless I'm being retarded (possible) there's no way that there is 147,000 miles of shoreline in the state.

Minnesota has 90K miles of shore line which is more than CA & FL combined. No way does Utah have 147K... not even counting Lake Bonneville.
