Official Draft Thread

Not that I'm a huge Babbitt fan, but I wonder what Jazz fans would think of him if he were black like Paul George.

Let's face it, while there are of course some exceptions, black basketball players are often smoother athletes than white ones. If Babbitt had the athleticism of say Paul George, he'd be a very high pick. He'd probably be an Evan Turner.

Having said that, if the Jazz can't move up to take a chance on somebody like Cousins, I'd be okay with Babbitt. A 20ppg scorer shooting 50/40/90 is nothing to sneeze at. But, I'd be concerned with his defense. Poor defense and he could end up being another Quincy Lewis (who was also a good college scorer and happens to be black).

The Jazz have been rather predictable in past drafts and even rumored trades (right off, I can think of the Stevenson and Brewer trades as ones rumored before they happened) and so I think there's a good chance they'd reach for Babbitt at 9.

Which could also mean there may be something to that rumored 'other pick' they're supposedly also looking for later in the draft. That could be for a consolation big -- Sanders or Alabi or that level; in that case, I just hope they don't get (okay I'll say it) another white stiff.

How giddy would the fanbase be over a Babbitt/Aldrich double whammy on draft night? I almost want it to happen to watch this board implode.

Please Kevin... NOOOO

This Wesley Matthews kid can't shoot 3-16 FG 0-4 3 pointers nor can he play defense (Jared Quale 18 points). I mean, just look at the youtube video and see how many 3's Quale rains down on this Matthew's moron. What a bad player. There's no way he's going to start for a playoff team at SG.

I'm not advocating a Babbit pick, but I certainly wouldn't base my opinion on clips against Utah St nor on his skin color.

Oh, and look at how convenient it is for you to leave out the details about that Utah St vs Nevada game. If you truly wanted to be objective you could have included along with your clip that Babbitt did have 26 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 blocks in that game.

But that's okay, Babbit sucks and everyone else of a darker pigment is better. Why? Just because, duh.

Seriously, if John Wall, Derick Favors, and George were all white while Aldrich, Quale, and Babbit were black, it would be so interesting to see the opinions some of you would have then.

Using Utah St as the standard here, look at what George did against them.

In the first game, 1-2, 2 points, and sprained his ankle in the first half. Nice job.

In the second game, 4-13, 1-6 3 pointers, 12 points, 7 rebounds, 5 turnovers as his team lost embarrassingly 76-39.

Using only the games against Utah St as the deciding factor, Babbit completely owns George.

So, we can either accept that Babbit is a far better player than George and that the Jazz should draft him over George. Or, that using only games against Utah St. is a sad and completely inaccurate way of judging talent and making major draft decisions.

You choose.

Babbitt looks like a complete stiff who can't guard at the next level. His lateral quickness is going to be the slowest on the freakin team! We need Cousins or Bust!

Defense wasn't Almond's singular undoing. If it was anything, it's that he was a complete black hole and had a tough time even getting a shot off in the NBA.
