Official Game Thread: Suns at Jazz, Tuesday, 4/24, 8:30 MT, TNT

It is a trade chip, there's that. I wasn't suggesting the Jazz are going to turn into the warriors if they lose, but that we don't need the pick to win. For as tired as you may be of anti-pick arguments, the lottery obsession this year has been worse. And Verlin, Jefferson and Millsap carrying this team to the playoffs--that increases their trade values. Especially Al's, as that's always been the knock on him. Al's proved himself of late and if he proves himself tonight, and if he plays well in the playoffs, that could be a very good thing.

Also, this Heat/Celtic game is atrocious. End the pain.
 
The Jazz wouldn't be in this position if Houston hadn't lost 7 of its last 8 games. Is there some reason that they wouldn't want to make the playoffs this year? Did they mini-tank to get in the draft lottery?

The increased value of Devin Harris as a trade chip if the Jazz make the playoffs is pretty considerable. He was regarded as an All-Star when we traded for him. He could be a piece in a blockbuster deal if he keeps playing like he has the last several games. Whatever happens, I hope he continues to play well and make a difference in this game.

Edit: If Al Jefferson continues to do well, it also helps his value. A lot of people are surprised at how well he's played in the past few games. He came up big in the Dallas game and the Orlando game. People were commenting like, "When did Jefferson learn to pass?" and such. I think the perception of him being a good player on a bad team fades a bit if we make the playoffs and he does well. It's a bit like Zach Randolph last year.

The Jazz have everything to gain in terms of the perceived value of their players if they make the playoffs and perform well. They've really got nothing to lose by playing a Spurs team that should make the WCF.
 
Carroll needs to quit shooting jumpers - he sucks. And we need to get Gortat in foul trouble. Millsap is the only one playing smart....
