**OFFICIAL** Mount Rushmore discussion thread

...if they let a guy who averaged 2 points and 22 rebounds a game in the HOF....they should burn the building down! And frankly, I have no idea how that puke Rodman got in! He was so one dimensional on the court, a real jerk to boot, and pathetically flawed in so many other areas on the court...it's ludicrous that he got voted in! In addition, both ON and OFF the court he was a virtual "eyesore" with all those tattoo's and body piercings! Plus, he's now been exposed as a "alcoholiack" and probably a drug user...he should be kicked out of the HOF!

Wilts stats dwarf Russells!
31,000 points to 14,000 points.
54% shooting to 44% shooting.
24,000 rebounds to 21,000 rebounds.
4,600 assists to 4,100 assists.
PLUS Wilt NEVER fouled out of a basketball game while playing in the NBA!

Russell always said basketball was a "team" game....and he played on way better teams than Wilt did with alot of smarter ballplayers to boot! Wilt stays on Mount Rushmore!

you obviously do not know basketball. 22reb means a total domination on glass. dude, basketball is more than just scoring. russell is considered greatest defender of all time.

and rodman is one of the greatest rebounder ever walked on earth. pound for pound he probably is the greatest. he isn't asked to score. he is there to defend and rebound. and who cares what he looked or did? rodman was played key role for in 3 different teams. he instantly improved the defense. and just look at the defense against karl. rodman was one of a kind player.

and i have wilt over russell. i never said russell is better than wilt. but don't dis russell. you can't measure player's heart and intangibles.

stockton belongs in mt. rushmore of players who never won it all

malone
stockton
barkley
ewing

sorry dude, it doesn't work that way. stockton just doesn't have any argument. even if stockton won multiple championships, no right minded basketball fan would ever put him above magic.

...like your concept of a "Mount Rushmore" of players who never won a championship! Certainly, Stockton and Malone would be 2 of the 4! Have to look at it more closely on Barkley and Ewing! Remember, you've got to have some career stats of noteriety to make Mount Rushmore, especially since championships won don't count!

...well, what are we arguing for, then? We both have Wilt over Russell and I recognize Russell as the more dominate of the two on defense! But Wilt also averaged about 20 rebounds per game.....and lots more points than Russell!

Moving on to Rodman.....we will just have to agree to disagree! I, for one, despise the dummy.....for reasons obvious and not so obvious!

i just had a problem with your idiotic comment saying russell didn't have HOF stat.

...I never said Russell didn't belong in the HOF! He had good enough stats to get in AND his championships/pedigree would make him a cinch! But Russell average 15 points a game NOT 2 points, which is what you said would be enough to be a 1st ballot HOFamer! I don''t think ANYBODY....other than a coach, could make the HOF with just a 2 point average! But you got more time than I do....check it out!

no starter can avg 2pts. that's impossible. even dennis rodman avg 7.3 pts and rodman never looked to shoot.

but let's say if some dude avg 2pts, but grabs 22reb a night, then he will be considered a top 3 greatest rebounder of all time. ALL TIME. 22reb career average? are you kidding me?

career rebounding avg
kareem - 11.2
moses - 12.2
karl malone - 10.1
hakeem - 11.1
duncan - 11.2
shaq - 10.9
barkley - 11.7
mutombo - 10.3
david robinson - 10.6

so basically 22reb career avg guy rebounds TWICE more than these great rebounders of the game. so are you telling me that's not HOF worthy? Think.

Big O
Big O was the first player of his kind really and averaging a triple double for an entire season is the most revolutionary thing in basketball and will likely never be equaled.

....Oscar Robinson was an outstanding ballplayer...a real pro and ambassador for the sport! But he only won 1 championship in his career and that was on the coattails of Kareem with the Milwaukee Bucks! Great career and definitely in the HOF....but didn't accumulate enough stats to merit a spot on "Mount Rushmore"! Frankly, his biggest claim to fame statistically would be that year he averaged a triple double! Almost as impossible to top as Stocktons career assist record.....almost!

...both Wilt and Russell averaged 22 rebounds a game. I think they are the only two to average more than 20 for their careers! Maybe Nate Thurmond? I doubt it....but I'll check. But this argument is pointless! NOBODY in the HOF only averaged 2 points in there career! Perhaps Ostertag would be the closest to this anomaly....since he could grab a ton of rebounds but had hands of "stone"....and probably cost Stockton another 500 assists playing with him!

thurmond avg was 15 ish. dennis rodman is a HOFer with 7pts and 13reb. i'll take 2pts and 22reb over that anytime anyday.

idiotic and stubborn. last night atlanta Hawks had 29reb. ENTIRE GAME. that's 10 dudes.

avg 22reb means - dude will have many 25+ reb games. and many 35+ reb games. not only this dude will win the DPOY almost every year, but he will most likely be the highest paid defender in the league. and almost every game his team won't lose the rebounding battle. and his team will be a perennial contender.

....look, NOBODY has ever averaged 20 rebounds and only 2 points EVER in the NBA! Until someone does, then no one in the NBA HOF has made it with those statistics! You say it will happen? I say it won't!!
