What's new

***Official new head coach search thread*** (merged)

There is nothing about Jim Boylen that makes me think he would be a successful NBA coach. Nothing. Sure he Pop's top assistant right now, but he's the latest in that line. Some guys make good generals and some make good lieutenants. Boylen would get fragged.

Was it the signing of John Lucas III as the back-up pg or was it carrying Biedrens all season long only to dump him in the last month that earned our trust?

That was brilliant for the tank, but let's hope he brings on more efficient FAs in the future. I'm pretty sure if he signed a dead man they would be more efficient.

Yeah, he was only there for 1 year. Doubt he learnt much and would likely regress to his old ways of doing things.

Pass.

Was it the letting Corbin and his staff go, the getting Burke, Gobert and Neto, a bunch of draft picks, ensuring the tank for a pick this year and cap space to boot that didn't earn yours?

So you don't think that Duncan and Manu would retire after winning one last 'ship?

You don't think this would cause the Spurs to go into re-build mode?

You don't believe in mother ****ing dreams?

Why would Spurs let Pop go? Why?

Maybe this is unfair because I stopped watching the utes so quickly, but my impressions of boylen were: foul mouthed, lazy, self excusing, defensive with the media, poor results and poor effort. Casual to a fault and played the victim too easily. What kind of magic does Pops have to fix all that in a year.

Moving up in the draft was nice, but losing on purpose and being cheap doing it was easy--look at all the teams that did it this year.

I'd be ok with Stan Van Gundy. I'm not a George Karl fan. I like Tom Izzo. Ultimately I think I would like to see a young up and comer take over.
