His antics and the state of that team health-wise is why I'd rather give up the Jazz 2016 pick if they go after a guy like Thibs. That team could fall apart in two years. Health-wise, they're stuck with Curry, Lee and Iggy. If they re-up Bogut this summer, things get really interesting. They're a couple of last second shots from being a lottery team. Jackson is going to grind that team into the ground. The 2017 pick could end up being as valuable as the Jazz 2014 lottery pick.

I'd be very pleased with his hire. Thing is, I doubt the Jazz are looking in his direction. He's definitely more than just a retread - he's a retread's retread - and it seems Utah is more shopping for a younger coach, or someone who hasn't been tainted by a bad head coaching record over the years.

One thing that he would for sure bring is an up-tempo, transition offense. Considering the advantage that the altitude gives a young team like the Jazz, they should be running a helluva lot more than they have in years. His playoff record concerns me, but I'd be happy with a hire like this. I'd love to see what he'd do with a talent like Andrew Wiggins should the Jazz land the top pick (or Aaron Gordon if they end up at 5/6.)

Nah, the GSW owners are too smart for that. They won't let Jackson run this team into the ground. They'll just go get Doc Rivers. They've got money to spend too, so I wouldn't be too worried about their financial situation.
 
So randy Rigby was on 1280 this afternoon, he started talking about the coaching search, but I had to turn it off just after he announced Spence Checketts was a finalist for the coaching job. Did anyone hear the rest of the interview? Did he say anything worthwhile?

I did hear him say they would like to have it done before the draft but they don't need to have it done by then.

Not good. With two marquee positions open in the league's biggest markets, we're obviously not the best destination. Hopefully the individuals we're looking to coach the team differ from other orgs.

Kerr seems the obvious choice for the Knicks.

Well, he said a lot of words, but nothing of real substance. I think Dennis Lindsey has told him what he is allowed to say, because he keeps saying pre-canned phrases that he seems to be uncomfortable saying...almost like he is worried he is mispronouncing the words or something.
Just kept saying they are going to be really thorough. It's more important that they get the right guy than that they get it done quickly. Blah blah blah.
