Official Player Workouts for the Utah Jazz

From his college tapes, Vonleh doesn't look quick or explosive enough to be Chris Bosh. More like Rashard Lewis or Vin Baker.

The key for Vonleh is quickness with the ball in his hands. I think that's what sets his ceiling.

I would take Exum over Vonleh, if given a choice.

I still have concerns about Vonleh's quickness, enough to still have him neck and neck with Randle.

In fact, I'll go out on a limb here ---

Don't be shocked if Randle is the pick at 5. His quickness, toughness and motor may give him the nod over Vonleh. Randle is a bigger, quicker Paul Millsap, and Snyder just worked all year with Millsap. If Exum is off the board, I think there's a good chance that Randle is the pick.

Randle isn't comparable to Millsap in his current Atlanta state. Could Randle possibly get there one day? Maybe, but it will be a long path to develop that kind of jump shot from where his shot currently is. It's not a given by any means.

Randle could be like a bigger, stronger version of the early-day Jazz Millsap. To project him past that is hard though.

Vonleh might be the only player I say hell no to.

We don't need another emotionless, heartless, fat *** big man who thinks he's a shooting guard. Drafting Chris Bosh 2.0 is not the answer. Give me a good role player over a Chris Bosh like "star."

Besides, if we want a stretch 4, why don't we just reup Marvelous?

Use the #5 for a player who actually gives a damn. Someone aggressive. Smart, Exum, Gordon. At least 1 of these will be available when we draft. Hell no to Vonleh.

What if he's Kevin Durant/Dirk Nowitzki? Still no?

Chris Bosh is not perfect, but in his heyday I'd take him over Aldridge. He was a monster in Toronto and they made the playoffs and he had no help... So far Love hasn't been able to get there. If Vonleh is Bosh he might be picked number 1.

I agree. I'd also add that from watching a few "highlight" clips of him (I won't lie and say I watched 10 games), he is extremely unimpressive for a big with supposedly good measurables. He plays very often below the rim (like Randle) and has a lot of trouble getting good position in the post if you watch him. Is he skilled and refined? I think so. But 80% of these shots look like they'll get blocked in the NBA.

Saw that tweet. Listened to the interview. Sounds like he knows just about as much about Jazz history as every other prospect that gets asked... "Sloan. Stockton. Malone. Deron Williams. Blablabla" Really whoever tweeted that just has a boner for Vonleh for some reason.

Agree. After I posted I read a DNews (or was it the Trib?) article about the workout. Basically stated he knew they were coached for a long time by Sloan and now had a new coach. Not that impressive after all. He's a WIP and will be a long-term project. Before the Utah workout I think I had read a quote attributed to Perrin or Lindsey that Vonleh could step in immediately and be part of the rotation. I agree, but it will be more along the lines of 15 mins/per. I'm actually of the opinion Gordon is more NBA-ready because he can contribute right away on the defensive end. Neither would start, but Gordon could be a good complement to either Burks or Hayward. He won't need to score to be a factor.

Just checked nbadraft.net and their update of 6/16 has the draft going from 1-5 going exactly as I have had it for the last month.

1. Cleveland - Embiid
2. Milwaukee - Wiggins
3. Philadelphia - Parker
4. Orlando - Exum
5. Utah - Vonleh

6-8 are Smart, Randle, Gordon. I also agree on those picks, as it makes great sense for each team.

It was the Utah Jazz's main twitter that tweeted that. Which I found kind of weird they haven't tweeted quotes from the workouts till now.
