Official Rising Stars Challenge Game Thread - 2/12/16 - 7 PM MST

When I read your post I thought you were crazy. I didn't believe it could be done without a trampoline. Then I did a little searching and found this guy. Yeah, the floor might have a little springiness, but he could probably do it. Whether there will ever be an NBA player with this sort of skill is questionable, though. Really no reason for them to develop it.

Plus I bet that dude isn't as tall as most nba guys and probably doesn't have the hops of aaron Gordon/zach lavine.

Gordon is like 6 foot 9 and has a huge vertical. I'm confident he could do it if he practiced at it enough.

But ya, there is really no incentive for him to risk injury for a dunk contest and no other reason for him to develop the front flip dunk.

If someone did it in actual nba game they would go down as the baddest *** mo fo that ever lived so I guess there is that incentive

Lol I was thinking at work the only dunk that hasn't been done is a back flip or front flip dunk haha

The in game flip would be sick, but it will never happen. I think a gymnast would have a better shot at pulling off a non-trampoline flip dunk than a basketball player. NBA athletes can jump, but there's a lot more to this trick than mere leaping ability. Even the guy in that vid would have to do some serious work in order to figure out how to hold a ball throughout that trick and then slam it. It seems damn near impossible to me, which is why it won't surprise me when someone becamomes obsessed with it and eventually pulls it off. After all, there are a lot of tricks guys routinely do now days that look impossible to me.

Sorry if it was already mentioned, but did y'all notice Aaron Gordon's Mailman 2.0 dunk?

I googled "rod floor" and found this https://www.theamericangym.com/rodfloor.htm

"The tubular fiberglass rods ensure a fantastic amount of spring with increased safety".

" Coaches and gymnasts appreciate this rod floor because it offers a phenomenal amount of spring, it decreases injuries, no maintenance is required, and it is very easy to set up."

Yeah. Nobody is going to pull off an unassisted front flip dunk on a normal hardwood floor any time soon. Sorry fish. It's just not gunna happen.
