Official Rising Stars Challenge Game Thread - 2/12/16 - 7 PM MST

Glad that I didn't watch it. Sounds like it sucked. In most cases, Jazz players (rookie or not) aren't suited for flashy style of game play like the rising stars game. Like someone else said, they're too disciplined to be show boatin' around. Rudy played very well last year and was all business which I really liked. None of that show boating crap that we are used to seeing in every rising stars/all-stars game every year.

Final stats:

Rodney Hood - 11 points (5-6), 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal.

Raul Neto - 2 points (1-1), 9 assists, and 1 rebound.

Trey Lyles - 2 points (1-6), 2 rebounds, and 1 assist.

This isn't the type of game that Hood would shine in, he played well, but he just isn't as flashy as some of the other guys and didn't hold the ball for the whole possession like others did. Neto knew his role was to facilitate and that's exactly what he did and the 9 assists prove that. I know there was like 3 possessions in a row where he got an assist and I was wondering how much he was going to end up with. Lyles played the least minutes out of anyone out there and just couldn't make a shot. They were all pretty wide open, but he didn't seem like he belonged, tbh.

why did Neto get invited to this game? He's not good enough to be there.
Had to do wit the game's format: USA players vs. International players. Obviously the pool of talented rookie/second year USA players is larger so their talent top to bottom was top notch. International team had to scrape the bottom of the barrel to fill their roster.

Maybe this would explain Neto's poor defense. Lol

"It's hard," Neto said with a smile after his World Team had suffered a narrow 157-154 defeat in the all-star weekend's Rising Stars Challenge. "My game is playing defense, playing hard. But I don't want to look like the crazy guy, the only guy who's going to play defense. So I've got to back up. It's hard. I want to win the game and it's tough when somebody scores on you can't do anything. You don't want to look crazy."

I wish Hood, Neto and Lyles had come out full effort and D up guys the entire game.

I didn't see a dunk contest or three point shootout thread.
Anybody know who the contestants are?

If lavine is there to defend his title then I can't see anybody beating him. He was amazing last year and everything looked so easy for him. I bet he could take it up another level. Which is saying something cause his performance last year was one of the best I ever saw.

If curry is in the three point shootout then he has to be the favorite right?

Yep steph and lavine.

Im pretty sure about lavine.

Less so about curry because the three point comp can be fluky.
A guy can just be cold or hot in any given round. Much harder to predict.

Maybe Gordon can give lavine a run for the money but I doubt it

LaVine is going to destroy the dunk competition, probably worse than last year. The 3pt contest will be more of a toss up, with all those contestants someones gonna get hot.

Let's see if someone can beat Curry in the 3-pt contest. Will be interesting to see, I'm sure he takes pride in this contest.

Lol at Kevin Hart almost beating draymond green.

Ha ha ha
