Humidity in Atlanta is horrible. And winning? Atlanta limped into the playoffs with a 38-44 record. Not exactly a contender.

Who said anything about Atlanta? Sap will have plenty of options, some of those will be in cities with advantages over Utah. At this point in his career, I doubt he wants to be part of a rebuild, so unless Utah makes a big jump this year, I don't see this as a real possibility.

Sap is an All-Star, can't disrespect him by saying an unproven College Freshman is better than him.

Towns is still that PF/C hybrid that I don't think we need. We need more of a quick/explosive athlete to compliment Favors/Gobert.

Towns has the potential to be GREAT though, I'd still roll the dice with him. But if we miss out of him, Millsap is a great consolation prize.

After this year we still have 2 years of Gobert left on a cheap rookie contract. I think our current contracts are good enough that we have enough flexibility to trade players away to create cap space if needed.

Thought your post was a reference to Atlanta.
He's seen Quin's work. His buddy DMC made tremendous improvement by working directly with Snyder. Millsap said he was a great hire for Utah. I think there are reasons Paul might not mind returning to Utah, especially with Ty gone. Snyder's offense would give Millsap plenty of touches.

As for the rebuild, Jazz now have depth in place at all 5 positions. Gobert and Hood were home runs, which greatly speeds up the process. The only shaky area MIGHT be PG. That can be addressed via trade or FA IF Burke hasn't improved much and Exum is slow to develop.

Another factor that could potentially be at play is that Lindsey wasn't the GM that took a shot on him with a mid-second round pick, but he is the GM who let him go after a good season and kept the coach when it should have been the other way around.

A plausible return situation I think would be if the Millsap believes that Snyder is special and it is confirmed with the Jazz exceeding expectations this season.

Cap should be close to $100M by the time Rudy is due for a raise. If anything, maybe Gordon leaves after opting out in 3 years. Hood and Burke can be the starters in 3 years, with Utah drafting additional wings over the next couple of drafts.

I think the only situation Gordon leaves is if he outperforms his contract (imagine that) and can get more by opting out. If that were the case, it would definitely be a top priority to keep him.

There's a reason he has the opt out clause: he'll be a 7 year veteran and eligible for a bigger chunk of the cap. He's opting out and asking for $20M. Book it!

If that were to happen, that would mean he is playing extremely well and it would be a priority to keep him is what I was trying to say.

Humidity is a summertime issue. The basketball season in Georgia is actually very nice. Springtime can be gorgeous (though the pollen is sometimes unbelievable). Definitely not a winning culture, though, and a pretty poor atmosphere at their games. Not even close to the environment at the ESA.
