What's new

OFFICIAL: Trade Deadline Thread

Teams probably wanted to take advantage of the Jazz to stick them with unwanted contracts and scrubs, when losing Al or Sap for cap room might be more appealing.

Yes, I imagine that was the case. And obviously there was no one the Jazz were really sold on to make taking on a salary dump appealing.
I still say the Jazz want to re-sign one of the two. And owning the rights to both means they can use them as leverage against each other.
Taking on contracts may become even more important as teams look forward to next season. Additionally, there might be cheap FA's available for the Jazz to sign once most others have blown their cash. Houston made out like bandits this past summer.

And like Beantown noted, Clippers may have backed away from the Bledsoe deal because of the uncertainty over CP3 re-signing. I think they believe some other teams may try to manuever to get Paul and/or Howard. And that's also where our cap space can come in handy. We're not going to get one of those two, but a team may give us a very nice prize in order to clear salary space on their roster.

You can't do better than that really...

Ummmm...Parker's rookie year, 30 mins a game, 34 mins his second year.

Ginobili's rookie year, 21 mins a game. His second year? 30 minutes a game.

Leonard
25 mins a game his rookie season.
30 mins a night his second season.

That looks just like the Jazz. See:

Burks, 15 mins his rookie season, 16 his second season.
Hayward, 16 mins his rookie season, 30 his second season, 26 mins his third. Trending the Corbin way.
Favors, 20 his first season, 21 his second, 21 mins his third, 22 his fourth. By his 10th season, we might get him 30 mins a night! Think how fresh his legs will be!
Kanter, 13 mins his first season, 14 his second.

Again, this team says what you want to hear, not what they are actually doing. And you lap it up.

You're only talking about minutes. Lindsey could be referring to a whole host of other things that are behind the scene and we don't know about, i.e., player development, coaching, mental training, mentoring, etc.

I have no reason to believe that either KOC or Lindsey are liars. So the status quo is that they're telling the truth.
