Official UofU homer thread

False outrage really.

There is dirty stuff going on all the time, and Utah is not innocent. They are just better at hiding it or doing it where a camera or ref won't see it.

It's usually the 2nd guy that gets caught, or the guy that loses it. There's rarely just an "aggressor" and a "victim".
(I'm not saying BYU has not had a large uptick in the number of stupid plays and actions recently, because they have and it needs to stop.)

The given reason for the cancellation is just the magician trick of drawing attention one way while the real trick is going on somewhere else.

At this point I don't care about the rivalry any more. I don't care if we ever play each other again. The interest is gone and has nothing to do with what has gone on in the games, more to do with the tone and attitude from administration and fans. If you don't want to play the Y, then great. Good riddance.

I do find it pretty funny that the holier than thou attitude that Ute fans would accuse Y fans of and hated, is exactly what is being given off now in large amounts by many fans and now the Ute administration. (in general, I still know many Ute fans that don't do this)

I'll never get to Max Hall levels of outrage, but when I get to mild annoyance I just walk away.

It's not worth it.

Stockton and Malone (Malone damned near killed Robinson and isiah Thomas) were dirty players, the bad boy pistons were dirty players, rodman, Barkley, oakley, xavier mcdaniels, etc etc etc.
Yet teams continued to play those guys

As I pointed out in the BYU thread, this is a bad analogy.

People played the Jazz because they had to - they were in the same Conference / League.

There is no obligation for Utah to play BYU any more. We are not in the same conference. There is nothing to force that to happen.

As far as coming clean - I think he IS coming clean. The lack of institutional control is what could lead to even more drastic and harmful behavior against Utah players in the future. This is a preventative move to make it so nothing worse happens in the future. How is that NOT coming clean?

As far as big-timing BYU - I don't think that's applicable here. I can see where BYU would be offended because they think Krystko is big-timing them and that's the primary reason, but Larry has always been respectful of the rivalry in the past and knows how important it is to a lot of the people in the State.

If you think this was a move he took lightly, without thinking through all the ramifications, and knowing full well the vitrol and hate that would be spewed by the BYU faithful as a result, you are dead wrong.

I don't blame him for doing what he did - even at the same time that I don't blame BYU fans for being upset that the game is cancelled.

Lots of gray area here, and we are not in anyone's shoes. We have an outsiders perspective. I'm sure there are additional details that nobody is aware of that influenced Larry's decision. But JM12 speaks a lot of truth.

Just sayin'.

So who really, honestly thinks that the games won't get scheduled beyond 2016-17? I mean, come on.

A one year break is just that - a ONE year break.

This basketball rivalry will get rescheduled the following season. I don't see how it doesn't.

In light of that - aren't people overreacting just a teensie, weensie, little bit?

I have never seen such butthurt before in my life.

I think this is bs

Before the bowl game ute fans were saying how byu is so dirty and they shouldnt play the game out of fear of byu's dirtyness.
Leading up to the game ute players talk trash. Byu players don't. During the game byu plays clean, ute player gets ejected for multiple personal fouls.
Emery sucker punches a ute player this year. Coach K goes completely ape **** and is the most out of control person on the court after the punch. If guys would not have held him back it would have turned into a brawl.
Last year a ute player kicks a cougar in the nuts.
A byu player throws elbows and gets ejected.
A ute player hits a byu player in the face after the play a few years ago.

It's not a one sided thing. Ute players have kicked and punched byu players too.

Coach K was out of control after emerys punch and was known as a physical somewhat dirty player.

In the last few years byu has had some ugly incidents and no one is happy about it. Not byu coaches, players, or fans. But they have also had plenty of clean games and good sportsmanship and are not historically dirty and dangerous and won't necessarily be going forward.

This is a knee jerk overreaction and looks like a ***** move. And it's not only byu fans who think that. I have seen plenty of ute fans and ex ute players on social media bashing coach k and chris hill too. Kyle gunther who loves the utes and is an alum is calling this move weak, and bush league garbage.
Come on now, don't bring things like facts into this. There's no place for that here.

This is a really bad post. Yea, the Ute player that was ejected hit the punter late but watch him try and let up right before hitting him and then watch your punter pull out a flop that would make Vlade Divac proud. That's a 100% different kind of play when compared to a sucker punch. Not an apples-to-apples argument and I know you know that.

The truth of the matter is that Utah doesn't want to play BYU in 2016, and so they're not going to. All of the rhetoric, butt hurt, and mudslinging has come from BYU. The sad truth is, 90% of BYU fans think like JazzSpazz: Utah and everybody else are just better at hiding the nut punches and intentional ACL tears. It's laughable the extent your fanbase will go to excuse the rash of obvious nasty behavior coming from your program in recent years. Lack of accountability is one of the biggest chicken **** traits a person can have and your fanbase and school are drowning in it.

This looks like Utah trying to do a power move, showing they can take the game away if they want to and fans have to beg to have it back. Beg at the feet of the all powerful Utah, we are in the PAC12, look at us. We are so special. Really pathetic school for taking this away from in-state fans. The fact that Utah ever recruited Marshall Henderson shows their values.

Ummm... Pot meet kettle. You talk about the mighty SEC all the time. You don't really have a horse in this race anyhow.

I just deleted all my posts about this issue. I don't want to argue about it with my fellow jazz fanz and it doesn't really matter.

I don't understand what you mean at all. If for some reason Ole Miss or Miss State left the SEC, they would still play each other because it's an in-state rivalry that fans want to see.

I would be fine if the two teams never played again. There is so much negativity between both fanbases. I would welcome an end to it personally.
