Official UofU homer thread

Im not mad about losing to Utah, just embarrassed. That is still the most embarrassing loss in recent history for the Ducks, hopefully always will be.

Lol, this is why everyone makes fun of Utah/BYU fans. They are ignorant. Autzen stadium has been sold out for the season since 1998. How is Utah doing at selling at that below average stadium? They struggle to sell out games when they are winning. When Utah is losing they have no fans since they all switch to BYU or pretend they dont like college football. We have had 1 losing season since Belotti was the coach or athletic director. That is in 21 years. They have finished in the top 25 15 out of the last 22 years. Utah has only finished in the top 25 9 times in their history since 1892. They are top 5 in most wins of any program in the last 20 years. Utah already has 2 losing seasons out of 5. They have finished 5th in the south division 3/5 years. Utah will get some big wins now and then (every team does), they will get on some lucky streaks and have a decent season now and then, but last year was Utahs peak in the PAC-12 and the best they can hope for. At least you got to go to the Vegas Bowl and got a narrow win against your rival BYU. Sorry I know Utah fans get their feeling hurt easy and cant take some light hearted trash talking, but its too much fun. Good luck, ill post again closer to the game against ya'll, maybe it will give you motivation to keep watching this season.

You seem to like numbers. How do you feel about the fact that since the beginning of last year, Helfrich has lost more games than Chip Kelly did during his entire tenure at Oregon? How about the fact that the fair weather fans of Utah kept their consecutive sell out streak alive during 2 consecutive losing seasons (I thought they were supposed to be jumping ship to BYU)? It's obvious that Helfrich is killing that program. Sure, you guys will fire him, but good luck getting a marquee HC to come to Oregon in an offseason in which the likes of USC and LSU will be on the coaching hunt.

Considering how much Nike money your program is spoon fed, you should be better than EVERYBODY, and yet here you are trending down and trotting out 2 consecutive FCS Quarterbacks. It's gotta sting watching Oregon losing ground while Utah trends up. There's no reason in the world that this should be happening but it sure as hell is. Don't feel too bad though, you guys still have really neat uniforms.

So your main argument is that our old coach Chip Kelly is better than our new coach Helfrich? While I would agree Helfrich has finished 2nd, 9th and 19th in the end of season polls in his three season, won the division 2 years and came in 2nd the other, won a BCS Bowl, won the first college football playoff game against #3 Florida State and made it to the National Championship game. That is more than Utah has or ever will ever do.

Utah has the second smallest stadium and cheap tickets for sell in a metropolitan area of 1 million with no real competition game day for tickets. Its quite a bit bigger metro (SLC is 3x bigger) than Eugene who has a bigger stadium and more expensive tickets and way more rainy games. Also Utah "sells out" games recently but in bad weather that stadium is no where close to full unless its a big name or a BYU game.

In reality Utah is doing pretty well (although I dont think this season is going to be anything special) and I am glad to see the stadium being fixed up and hopefully expanded, it has one of the prettiest views from the stadium looking at both the mountains and the city below it.

*I don't really believe this just posting it because we all know people like this and maybe even think thoughts such as this*

It felt like every fumble/TO that favored Utah was reviewed any and every fumble that benefited USC was not.

Okay really though, I knew I wasn't able to look at that QB fumble unbiased so my opinion of a fumble is skewed but I do wonder if they called it a fumble on the field if they would have kept it a fumble. Because when they reviewed it the ref said the ruling on the field is "confirmed" but if it is the like the NFL they only use "confirmed" if they saw evidence to confirm the call, if was inconclusive they use "stands". Just a thought.
Posts like this are fine imo. I don't see a problem with complaining about bad calls or bad luck. Every fanbase of every team in every sport does it. Bad calls and bad luck do happen, I see no reason why talking about it should be taboo or frowned upon or whatever.

I negged because your post was so wrong, there is nowhere to start to correct it. Your post was garbage.

This game will be fun this Sat. Two different styles going against each other.

I want Utah to have a goal of 5+ min drives every time they get the ball. If they can have the ball for 5+ mins at a time and finish drives, they win easily. That would limit Cal to 8-9 possessions. And would get them out of rhythm offensively. Can't wait. I'm hoping for a beat down, but it will probably be what it always is...a close game that comes down to Whitt's defense having to save the day.

But, then again, USC was the offense saving the day.

I don't feel warm and fuzzy about the game. Until I see this Utah offense put up 30+ points with some regularity, I'm petrified that teams like Cal can force them into a track meet that Utah simply cannot keep up with.

I'm going to the Utah @ Cal game in a couple weeks and looking at tickets.

Trying to decide if I'd rather sit in the Utah section which is in the end zone, or sit more along the side/corner and be with Cal fans. Price is about the same, just deciding if it's worth taking a worse view to be able to cheer and high five with Utes fans.

What do y'all think?

Found aisle seats on the 20 yard line Row 38 for similar price to what I could get in the Utes section so I went with that. They are "benchback" seats with back support that are supposed to have more room than regular bleachers too. It's in the donor section so should be less of a chance to be around Dbag fans (not that I'd picture Cal having very rowdy fans anyways).

Bringing my fiancé who is still trying to learn football (Not from the States) so wanting everything to be as comfortable as can be. Made the mistake of taking her to a couple of cold weather games that turned her off to the sport a little bit right away. She's slowly coming around tho.

Pumped for the game!!

If last week is any indication it feels like Utah will run the ball early and often. Our 3 headed running attack vs a Cal run defense that has been lit up but did improve last week vs Arizona State will be the story of the game for the Utes.

Davis Webb can sling it around and throws deep passes as well as just about anybody. He has made mistakes late in games that cost his team chances though and he isn't very mobile.

I feel like if Utah comes ready to play from the beginning and avoids costly turnovers we will win. Cal is a team you can never count out of games so we definitely need to finish strong in the 4th.

I would like to see more involvement from the tight ends. Particularly around the goal line area. We have quality guys at the position, use them!

Agree 100%
From what I have seen it seems like the offense could use the short middle of the field passing game a bit more in general.

Maybe they are not using the short middle of the field passing game because the defenses are loading up to stop the run though and Williams is simply taking what the defense is giving him.

Either way, utes are 4-0 so maybe if it ain't broke, don't fix it! Keep doing what your doing.
