Official UofU homer thread

Not at all. I just knew that if I wanted to give my BYU friends in here a hard time, the fastest way they'd see it is if I posted it in the Ute thread.
Nah, If you post in any thread it goes to the top of my "timeline" on the app.

So you could have posted what you did in literally any thread and I would have saw it and probably commented on it.

Was pretty surprised to see the media vote Utah #2 in the South in their preseason poll. I figured Utah would get very little love this year considering they lost 8 guys to the NFL.

That is surprising.
Media is kind of vague though. Any kind of media in particular/link?

PAC 12 media days are today and tomorrow. The media in question are the beat writers and members of sports media scattered throughout the PAC12 cities.

And Alt, nice catch on the 7udfa's. Damn, 15 guys at least getting an NFL shot in 1 offseason. That's amazing!

I heard a little more about Carrington through somebody with a small connection. It sounds like he is a better kid than I thought and trying hard to fix some mistakes. It also sounds like he was a better locker room guy than I had heard and though.

So with that said I think he will be a good fit for Utah and hopefully turn things around for him. Although he needs someone to throw him the ball...

Also it made me laugh that I heard he chose Utah and implied the reason was in that Utah was quiet and he could avoid trouble more. You can find trouble anywhere. Its not like Eugene is a big city or crazy. SLC is more lively than Eugene. Although those are two of my favorite cities that I have lived in.

Pac-12 did a FB poll of fans and Utah was #1 in the south.

Oregon #4 in the north.

When a kid is troubled (be it in Utah's program or somewhere else), I look at the type of offenses. If a kid has a drinking/drug problem I usually like to see schools stick him and help them overcome their issues. I realize Oregon gave Carrington multiple chances and were finally forced to cut bait, which is totally understandable. I'm open to him coming to Utah hoping that a clean slate and the fact that Kyle Whittingham has a firm grip on this program will lead to him redeeming himself. That being said, Utah tried this before with Josh Gordon and it didn't work out. However, the Gordon experiment didn't seem to negatively affect the locker room or the product on the field. It was pretty much as simple as: Bring the kid in and if he can keep his nose clean, maybe we can get some high end production out of him. Hopefully Carrington will be different.

As far as other offenses go, I wouldn't be too happy seeing Utah bring in a player who was dismissed from another program due to sexual assault or domestic violence situations. To my knowledge, Carrington doesn't come with any of that baggage.

That's good to hear, Gary Andersen praised him as a game changer, I hope he is. Because I'm tired of mediocre receiver play. The Colorado game I went to where I was sitting you could tell one of the passes was a perfectly thrown pass in the end zone and Tim Patrick made a mess of it. Yeah their DB's got away with crap in that game but it's like our receiver didn't help ourselves either. That game still bugs me to because of how the Colorado fans were trash talking us at the end. I look forward to our game with them this fall.

I was a huge Tim Patrick fan. Great combo of size and speed. Not sure how his hands were/are though since i didn't watch him enough. Is he back this season or off the team?
