Official Utah Jazz 2015-2016 Pre-Season Thread

Locke podcast today:

Pleiss has very good hands/touch, especially for his size. Says he can shoot up to 22 feet and possibly 3 point shooting. He has a hard time finding a comp for him.

Neto will best show his benefit to the team in a 5 on 5 setting instead of camp.

Favors and Hayward are the best players on the floor. Hayward is uping his leadership and Favors is improving offensively.
Dirk for a comp? Great shooting, no defense.
Neto must be bricking shots if Locke has to use that excuse. We have a mini-Exum.

When trying to find a comp Locke mentions Dirk (touch) and Marc Gasol (passing). But then back pedals in saying that Pleiss is not as good as either one of those two at those things.

As for Neto, it was always known he isn't a shooter but has great passing.

Nice try, but that's not what this means re: Neto at all. The more important passing is to a player's game the more important it will be for him to have a full team on the floor.

Burke probably plays pretty similar in three on three to five on five. That's not good if you want a distributing point guard.

Utah Jazz just tweeted that Chris Johnson took an errant elbow to the head last night. He has been diagnosed with a concussion and has to go thru the leagues concussion protocol before being allowed to return to practice.

DJJazzyJody and Tjonessltrib are both tweeting Hayward as saying he feels he is one of the best in the league.

Good for Gordon. Let's see if he can back that up. He's close, but still needs to take another step, IMO.

He is right there. I'd say he was a top 4 SF last year. Now he will have PG and Melo back to contend with.

The environment is ripe for him to take another step this year. I still dont think hes good enough to our #1 option on a championship team, but id love to be proven wrong.
Hes a great #2 though.

I still think this #1 option / #2 option thing is overdone. Who is the #1 option on Golden State? How about San Antonio? OKC had a perfect #1 option in Westbrook. The guy was killing it with triple-doubles the last two months. And how did they do in the playoffs? Balance is WAY more important unless a star is transcendent.
