Official Utah Utes Football 2012 Thread

Nobody suggested abandoning the run game. But Johnson has to mix it a little better. His immaturity as an OC was pretty evident, and we benefitted more from our defense and the fact that Doman called an even worse game.

Crediting Johnson for the win makes me LOL.

The refs did suck last night. But they sucked for both sides.
@Bronco: both of those fumbles that got reviewed and overturned were incompletions. The replays showed his arm coming forward when the ball came out.
I do disagree with the PF call in the end zone against the Ute DB, and I probably wouldn't have called the face mask in the end zone on that first drive either. But there were some bad no calls that went the Utes way as well.
When all is said and done, Utah made the big plays to win the game (although I'm still pissed at Alisa for not just covering up that fumble. That's the first thing you're taught for hell's sake!!!!!!!!!!!!). Bronco is an emotionless robot and it affects the players.

Good job Utes and good job fans. Yes, you are classless morons and you rushed the field twice when you shouldn't have but you did more good than bad. Clearly, the offense was affected by the noise. To me that may have been the biggest factor in the game.

Utah was the better team last night. But you will always be little brother no matter what happens.

Fun 4th quarter. Good times.
Getting called classless by a fan of a team that marches their flag throught the opponent band and bumps into them while they try and do their routine is hilarious. Getting called classless by a fan base that has a player intentionally attempting to seriously injure the opponent after the whistle is even more funny.

The two fumbles on Riley that were changed to incompletions were the right call. It still sucks to have so many almost TO's that get reversed or negated because of a penalty.

The penalty on the hit in the end zone (Mo Lee?) was bad, but depending on the angle the ref had I can see what he was calling, but yeah it was wrong.

The thing I thought was insane, and I want to get input from people who were watching the game on tv or are more objective than me, was how terrible of spots Utah got on almost every play and how generous of spots byu got. I am incredibly biased, but I dont remember ever seeing anything like how terrible of spots we got last night. I swear we were losing a yard or two on almost every single spot. Am I crazy?

This post is entirely hilarious and more funny then anything I've seen in this thread.

The refs were dumb both ways no question.

I don't remember thinking this, or seeing it. But you're not the first person to bring it up, so there may be something to it.

You're not crazy. The spots were bad all game long. I watched the game again this morning and there's at least 6 legit bad spots given to Utah. We're talking at least 2 yards off. BYU had a couple as well, but in both cases it was 3rd down and they were still short even if the spot was correct.

I didn't notice any generous spots given to either team though.

Congrats to Utah. They outplayed BYU and deserved to win. I'm glad the FG was missed at the end. Technically the call was correct, but the penalty should have never been whistled. BYU missed the 1st kick and that should have been the game.

BYU will be headed to the Poinsettia Bowl, but at least they don't have to share their payout with any league doormats. I don't see Utah getting in a bowl, but the Pac-12 alliance nets them a very good share of bowl revenues each year. So a winning situation for both universities.
