Oh I see.... I thought you were talkin 1st team.
My mistake

6 All-Stars came out of that draft. This one is THAT much better than 6 All Stars? How many All stars are there going to be?? 8? 10? Who the hell cares where we land then?

This draft could have 10 all stars, and 5 of those guys could be superstars. That means we need to care very much that we land in the top 5.

None of those guys were were hyped like lebron, wiggins, parker, and randle....... including rose

perhaps not, but i specifically remember reading an article touting harrison barnes as the next MJ in sports illustrated while he was a freshman at NC. the hype may not be as all-penetrating as this year's crop, but the hype exists every single year, claiming one or another the next great thing.

there's just a lot of 'coulds' and 'possibles' being thrown around about the draft. i'm refusing to buy the hype so i dont get heartbroken when the seemingly inevitable let down occurs

Tell me...have you evaluated any of the players? Watched their film?

Are you just not buying into the hype based off of a feeling, or do you have any actual observations that you'd like to share with us?

I'm sure you'll just ignore this (like usual), but I'd actually be curious to see if you do have anything to say.

Does my evaluation matter? If it did, I'd be making several hundred thousand as an NBA talent scout. I don't care to feed the hypetrain with armchair scouting.

What I do know is that 70 years of NBA drafts tell me that it is VERY unlikely there are 5 allnba and 3 all stars in this draft.

I agree

So, I'm an idiot for spending the last 10 years pursuing a career paying just a bit above the city average? I should've striven for being a millionaire and then settled for being average?

I'm sorry, can you show me where I ever related this to net worth or income?

How about striving to be the best teacher you can be?
Or the Jazz the best team they can be? (aka win a championship, just to clarify since you seem to have trouble with basic concepts)

Point is reach for the stars. If you fall short then that's ok. Don't reach for mediocrity.

my bad, 5 all stars and one all-nba'r

all stars:
dwill
cp3
bynum
granger
lee

all nba:
dwill
cp3
bynum
bogut
lee

Nice listing them all twice. So in short youu have 6 names.

This draft has:

Wiggins
Parker
Gordon
Embiid
Randle
Exum
Smart
Vonleah

All of which are expect to blow up and have all-star potential. 2-4 of which are expect to blow up and have superstar potential. That doesn't even include players like Saric and Hood either. Point is that this could be like the 2003 draft that brought in Lebron, Wade, Bosh and Melo. You need that top pick to get one of those 2-4 I mentioned (Embiid, Parker, Wiggins, Randle/Exum).

Read the first line of the post you quoted. I said 5 all stars and one all nba'r right up front, so yes, 6 names, good counting there stoked.

You go on to name 8 guys who may or may not succeed. Historically, chances are more likely that half of them will not be as good as advertised.

My biggest reservation is that I've now had 3 people tell me there is going to be 8-10 all stars come out of this draft. 2003, known as one of the best drafts ever.. Had 8 all stars. And yes, 5 of The 8 were picked in the first 6 picks, I get that draft position matters, I really do.

I'm all for swinging for the fences and getting a really high pick, as naturally it increases your chances of being able to pick who you want. But clearly we are not going to have a top 3 pick barring some miracle. So why am I going to obsess about it? If the draft is really as good as you all claim it to be, then we will be just fine at 4-6, right?

Anyway, I'm Just having a hard time buying into the hype that the rest of you have. I want to, and I really hope we get a star, seriously, but I wouldn't be surprised if this draft class is more lackluster than predicted,
