OKC @ SLC - Utah Jazz Game - 7:00 PM MST on FSOK, ROOT, ZONE

28 wins is going to be enough for 2nd or 3rd pick.

Nope.

Lots of teams are tanking this season because they believe the hype of this draft

28 wins is going to be enough for 2nd or 3rd pick.

Last year 28 wins would have been 6th worst in the league and last years draft had very little hype so teams were not tanking.

the most recent example of tanking everyone loves to cite is GS, which tanked and got Barnes. Yet Barnes is now an off the bench player whose role has become substantially diminished since acquiring Iguadola.

Terrible example. C'mon man, Barnes is killing it. He's putting up a 2nd straight 11.0 PER season! That's almost as good as our very own Richard Jefferson at 11.7!

Tank (back) on!

If you look at Golden State's starting roster, here's the draft order:

Bogut 1 (though I'm sure all agree that time and injuries have reduced him to much less than what he was)
Lee 30
Iguadola 9
Curry 7
Thompson 11

Even Barnes was drafted 7th.

Now, GS probably won't win the Championship, at least this year, but it is an exciting, competitive team and if kept in tact, will likely compete for the WC title for the next several years.

Again, I'm not saying I don't want a top draft pick (I do) or that I think the Jazz should emphasize wins over draft position this year (I don't), but not getting the top pick does not necessarily doom us to never ending mediocrity (e.g., fringe playoff team).

I think we can also agree that he was never all that much to begin with. Probably not even in the top 5 players from that draft.

Yep that draft wasn't nearly as good as the one this year

I love how all our pro-tank posters have the ability to see in the future. They know which players will be superstars, despite none of them ever having played basketball on a pro level, they know how many wins other teams will have at the end of the season, they know which teams are going to trade players in order to tank better and which teams are going to gun for the playoffs...

It's marvelous, really.

They only tanked so they wouldn't lose thier pick altogether

I hate when people compare us tanking to teams that suck year after year (cleveland, sacremento). Those teams never tanked..... they just suck.
The jazz are a pretty good team that could become great by tanking for one year.

If the jazz tank, they will be just fine going forward regardless of whether or not thier pick turns out to be the superstar a lot of think he will be because the jazz are a good team and good organization.

A lot like the spurs....... but the difference is that they tanked at the right time (duncan was an obvious star to be) and got thier guy to build around.

I'm hoping that the jazz do a proper tank to get thier guy to build around.... and for the jazz, building around him will be very easy cause we already have the perfect role players on the team

Yep.
I have an ability to watch college basketball and be able to tell that the players in this years class are better than most.
I just have an eye for talent that you don't possess I guess.

I truly wish I could share my ability to spot talent with you but unfortunately I can't

Oh! Do Indiana next!
