I like Okur. But they need to shut him down, not pretend he's going to try to work back into the rotation in 3 weeks. Just put him on a slow program designed to have him in top shape coming into camp next season. Who knows what that will do but it's the best chance to get some value out of him.

Unfortunately, it was Memo who tried to be on the floor playing as soon as possible, despite all the recommendations and warnings. The Jazz have always handled those situations well, I have never seen them putting pressure or some kind of timetable on players' returns. He knew that his body would react to it, not only his repaired achilles. He already had a chronically bad back, and he should have known the possible danger of rushing back. Had he taken it slowly from the start, he would be playing right now, and more importantly could become another player that coach Sloan could count on.

Similar thing happened to Larry Bird. He had spurs on both heels and had them operated on. He tried to come back too early and wasn't running normally and he messed up his back. It ended up shortening his career.
