Okur's Defense

As has already been said, he can play solid post D. That's about it though. I would say he is a slightly above average rebounder, though. Not sure if the stats back that up or not.
 
The real question is where will he play in the rotation? Al seems to be getting the flow of the team. So where do you put him and who gets less time?
 
Some people need to chill the **** out here. The fact of the matter is Boozer and Okur as defenders are practically interchangeable. Boozer had some more physical ability by way of agility, but was a few inches shorter, and Okur tried a little harder. The net result is practically the same; crap. Boozer was not a bad post defender and horrible in every other way, and Memo is the same.

And there's no question in any non-homer's mind that Memo would be the worst defender on this team, all things considered. And before Homer is money has another conniption fit, that does not mean that Memo's net contribution will be bad because he definitely brings value to the court (at home) on offense and is usually a good (not great) rebounder.

I've been wondering this, too. It will probably come out of Fes and Elson's minutes intially, but I'm trusting it will be a good problem to have. Elson has impressed me with his ability to play within the offense and get some easy points (especially his jumpers from about 10 feet out -- don't laugh, Fes doesn't often know what to do out there). Memo can obviously draw defenders away from the basket which could make for some great help for Big Al at his more natural 4. Depending on lineups, they could also play Sap, Big Al, and Memo at the same time for stretches, or get weird and put Memo in with Fes, etc. Should be fun to see, given that our 4 centers all bring something different to the table.

So you my biggest hater. Lol ... Subzero jazz wow thats a cool name dude. I guess im the worse poster here or so you say but you havent seen the racist post by carolinajazz and he is ok with ya. Man your like stalking me i find it funny. Ill be in utah in a few months lets step on a court togther and see what ya got

Actually, I doubt he is your 'biggest' hater. He just happened to make a list (I made it right below you :D )
Im guessing even if you showed all of your 'mad bball skillz' to all who oppose your ideas, your posts will still be the same.

A statistical breakdown of post defense of bigmen. Check out the allowed %FG of Boozer and BigAl and compare them with Memo's. Also, consider the fact that most of the players defended +200 positions on the post, allowing a reliable comparison.

I like how this statistic also sheds light on Al Jefferson's troubles down low. Ive seen him quit on many-a-play. His recovery blocks, or even the occasional block on his man, are nice but far too many times he' gives up the ghost.

I've seen a steady improvement in that regard. I think he's really shown improvment on that end of the floor

Agreed. And just think how much faster he would've started trying to defend (and how many additional games the team would've won) if the defense of AJ (and others) had actually been enforced.

That dreamshake website is a big tribute to Okur. I doubt that Orlando helps on the double-team as much as Utah does, but MO has a nice position there. I think that he would fare far worse in an analysis of help defense.
