Idk Durant was missing all kids of **** in the first half. The issue with the end-of-game possessions was that guarding the US was a ****ing disaster. Best guard on Curry, Physical forward on Lebron, Jokic on Embiid -- and then you still have Booker and Durant to worry about. Lebron waited for KD to set the screen because he knew it'd be BBQ chicken.
To KD's credit he stayed composed and found his shot again as the game went on. We've seen him hit those late game shots time and time again in his career -- you can always trust him to annihilate a mismatch. I think a Lebron drive would have also led to either FTs or a dump-off, but Lebron knew that KD iso up top would probably curtains up the game.
It was really remarkable watching how much more organized the team felt when Lebron touched the ball. The only out of sorts play in the 4th quarter I remember was Embiid trying to get Jokic his 5th and he turned it over. Lebron had his hands on the ball every single other possession for the rest of the game.
It's just unbelievable to see him play this way at 39 years of age. I have never seen anything like it, an athlete somehow not falling too far from his prime. He has overall been the most important player on this olympic team, how insane is this. Idc if ppl say I'm glazing him -- to just be neutral and watch him play like this, we are all going to miss him when he's gone.
