Olympics Thread

Lebron to me is the mvp. Great court general, almost 9 assist per game and defended jokic and wemby. Steph otoh solidified himself as the greatest shooter in the whole world and nobody is even close. What a legend.

Haliburton probably thinking how trash their fiba team was compared to this.

How much do you think the Warriors regret not doing what they had to do to improve their team when watching Curry in the Olympics?
I dont think Kerr or their FO doubted that he could still do that. They get to see him every day and must know he still has it.

But the talking heads and general public are gonna be flaming them hard after seeing what he did.

Doesn't tell the whole story but here are some stats from the Olympics.

Steph:23.3 minutes. 14.8 points. (49.2%) 3.2 rebounds. 2.5 assists. 0.7 steals. 0.0 blocks

Bron: 24.3 minutes. 14.2 points. (66%) 6.8 rebounds. 8.5 assists. 1.3 steals. 0.3 blocks.

Lebron led the team in rebounds and assists and was very close to leading the team in points as well. FWIW.
He played the role of magic johnson magically.

(these stats dont include the exhibition games of course)

France gave the US women quite a fight but the US pulled out the win. The center for the US (she wears one long leg sleeve on one leg) was dominant. Also, this game was quite physical. So france is down 3 with the ball and like 5 seconds left. France shoots and makes a two pointer with 1 second left to lose by 1. WTF?

I think I read that the US Women have never lost a game in olympics history. Is that right?

I was thinking that the rest of the world maybe hasn't caught up to the US in womens basketball because the rest of the world ins't as progressive as the US? Maybe women are more free to do what they want in america than many other countries. Like US women being tomboys growing up and pursuing sports and careers happens more often than in other countries where they are still more expected to stay at home in the kitchen or whatever? Or maybe none of that has anything to do with anything. IDK.

Actually the main reason is your college sport culture is far superior to that of any other country.

Another thing is that womens basketball leagues are still amateur leagues in most countries.Would maybe be in the US had NBA not subsidized and promoted WNBA.

@HermanG already told the actual reasons, but I gotta say your message was somewhat disrespectful and based on some bad misperceptions. Especially western, middle and northern Europe are very advanced in equal rights between genders, and women in work-life and sports is very much encouraged and supported. Of course there's still millions of women around the world that have it much worse.
