Olympics Thread

Yeah during the game when US was down #LeBronze was trending in Twitter and I think it was mostly used by Americans.
I think it's because US audience sees players as primarily NBA players (with the cultural encouragement to pick favorites and non-favorites). We rarely think of them as national team members -- or at least that's a far, far secondary consideration in the way we form opinions about them. Their Team USA participation is seen more as a novelty than as a feature of who they really are.

This cultural inclination may change with the greater international competition, though probably slowly if it ever happens.
 
Bogut was saying on his podcast today that FIBA want to pull basketball from the Olympic schedule and just leave 3v3 basketball as an Olympic sport. They are apparently dissatisfied with the commercial impact the Olympics has on the World Championships and the IOC doesn't do any profit sharing.
