What's new

Omer Asik

DeAndre Jordan, Clipper center who signed a 4 year deal over 40 million dollars.

Thanks. It is making perfect sense now.

DJ is a defensive force. He is a highlight type player. Asik is just to opposite. He plays below the rim, but he is extremely effective. I don't think that Asik will command near the money that DJ did.

What? Asik is very athletic and averages more blocks per minute. Jordan has a larger body and reach, but I'm not entirely sure he is much more athletic than Asik. They were actually picked back to back in the 2008 draft also.

An argument could be made that Asik is even more athletic. If you watch him, his lateral quickness is amazing for a guy his size. Jordan can't touch his ability to move laterally.

I would say he is going to get around 6 million per year at the least. I would liken his current situation Marcin Gortat's in Orlando. He is playing behind better, more experienced front court players. He only takes 2.4 shots per game now, and is mostly asked to play defense. In an expanded role he could flourish and teams will take the risk and pay him. Orlando gave Gortat a contract that payed him around 30-35 million for 5 years. He got that contract after averaging 3.6 points and 4 rebounds in 13.5 minutes. Asik averages 3.2 points with 5.2 rebounds with 1.1 blocks in 14.9 minutes. Add on to the fact that Asik is a legit 7' with very good athletic ability = getting paid to be a starter somewhere.

Actually, if you adjust DJ's minutes and Asik's (per 48) minutes for their contract years, Asik blows DJ out of the water. More than doubles his rebound production and gets nearly twice the blocked shots.

Same for Gortat's contract year and Asik's current year per 48. Asik's numbers destroy Gortat's.

All that was copy and pasted from some other site. I have 0 original thoughts.

Are you really trying to say that because you've compiled some statistics in order to refute some other person's idea you are being productive and original? Do you not know the difference between critique and authorship? Do you not see how every response you've given is a counterpoint to something that was said just before? Are you ****ing retarded?

My favorite part of this whole exchange was when you said my idea sucked... but then talked about how several GMs would be throwing money at him.

I also liked the part that because he has statistical similarities to a couple of players that were signed before the current CBA, you then know everything there is to know about his value.

BTW, I'd consider paying Asik up to $5million a year for 4 years. I wouldn't get into a bidding war.

The bottom ****ing line is that this is worth discussing and this is a message board. How anyone could get bullyboy about this and try to shut it down is pure troll.

No, I was not trying to prove how "original" my post are. I could care less about that. I just find it annoying that you point that out when I'm right. Our back and forth was funny at first, but it really has gotten annoying lately (especially since you lack any humor).

Your idea sucks because we already have 2 young big guys under contract who are both very high in potential, along with two veteran big men who are also pretty good. Yes, we will (hopefully) trade one off this off-season, but I still find signing an additional big man an unnecessary expenditure when we should be focusing our resources on signing a wing player, like Batum.

The idea of getting Asik is good if we had a need for a big man, but we don't. Other teams do, and I think whoever gets him will have a good player (as long as the $$$ doesn't get out of hand). He will cost more than 5 million per year.

DeAndre Jordan was signed after the new CBA. https://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba...ordan-signs-golden-state-warriors-offer-sheet

Then why are you getting mad at me for discussing it?

... oh, sorry, let's get back to discussing more realistic things... like signing Batum.

Hack.

I didn't invite you into this thread; and what you are doing isn't a discussion.

https://dictionary.reference.com/browse/discussion I think I'm in line with the definition of discussion. You said go after Asik, I said no he will cost too much money (pointed out why I thought he would), focus efforts elsewhere. You cried about how I have 0 original thought and am not discussing.
