Of course it does. Do you think the guy working nights to pay for his tuition, books, food, rent, clothes, etc, has as much of a chance to graduate summa *** laude as the rich kid who paid cash for his college and his parents also made huge donations?
No doubt. That doesn't mean they didn't have an easier path. They just squandered their opportunity.
And Gates actually makes products. He innovated and got rich by making innovative products. Romney does not. There is a big difference there. One of them actually created a whole industry and used his innovation to get rich (hiring 10's of thousands of people along the way). He then agreed that it would be better for the country if rich people like himself were required to pay more taxes.
The other guy made his money by destroying other businesses. Among his tactics were buying a business, investing all of its money in Bain Stock, and then filing for bankruptcy- laying everyone (or at least a lot of them) off in the process. He then hid a lot of money in Swiss banks and the Cayman Islands and said rich people like himself should pay even less in taxes.
