On the radar: 2012 Draft Class

If it's a big that isn't a homerun, the Jazz shouldn't be hungry for one. I hear murmurings that Drummond has an apathetic streak. If true, that's an automatic DQ for me.

Frustratingly accurate. Everyone in the gym knows he could dominate, but he doesn't make the effort. His games are like nothing, nothing, 3 highlight dunks, nothing. He has more upside than Howard, imo, but we'll never see it materialize, again, imo. I agree, don't need a big, especially in this class. Pick up a 3, for sure. Then the BPA PG (Teague/Kabongo) or 2G (Rivers/Beal).

I also think he can develop his offensive game and become a good scorer. Ideally, the Jazz need a PG of the future but you still have to take the best player available. Jazz are going to sneak into the playoffs as the 8th seed and GS will wind up with a top #7 pick. So in the deepest draft in years, the Jazz will have ZERO picks.
 
I know there is debate as to how much intelligence plays in basketball (or let's say linguistic adroitness), but I can't remember hearing an NBA All-Star give an interview that sounded as disjointed as this interview with Gilchrist. Does anyone else see anything that I'm seeing here? It sounds as if he has no idea about where he is or what he is even thinking about the game. "I have no role!" etc. Am I high? Should ability to articulate a coherent thought be a criterium at all? I know he's young and has had tremendous tribulations in his life, so no disrespect intended. It almost seems as if he has a speech/cognitive pathology problem.

The Jazz would have to hop a few teams to make the playoffs.

Lakers
Mavs
Thunder
Grizzlies
Spurs
Nuggets
Blazers
Rockets/Suns/Jazz/Hornets

Golden State has picked 7, 6, 7 in the last three drafts, so there is a pretty good chance they'll keep their pick. The Warrior's pick ought to be in th 6 - 10 range and the Jazz's pick ought to be in the 10 - 13 range.

The kid is young so I give him a pass on the interview and his lack of knowledge. All I have heard about the kid is he is good, works hard, stays out of trouble and is a good teammate. A few examples from the past, Dr.J when he was young sucked at interviews, Moses Malone and Bill Walton to name a few. What matters is does the kid have talent, desire and the it factor. I think he has all three but time will only tell.
 
I will wait until these kids play some College ball to pass any kind of judgment on them. NBA teams tried scouting and drafting HS players and usually failed miserably.

......................but QUINCY MILLER ftw as far as potential goes.
