Thomas will be a part of the 76ers' 15-man roster on opening night.

Thomas, 25, played eight games in stops with the San Antonio Spurs and Utah Jazz in the 2013-'14 season. Thomas, a 6-foot-9 forwarded, was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers and eventually waived to clear salary space.

Thomas has had stops with the Golden State Warriors and Chicago Bulls in his career. Thomas played college basketball at San Diego State.

The 76ers open the season Wednesday at the Indiana Pacers.

Glad to see Thomas getting a chance, he was great in the summer league. Well deserved relative to John Lucas.

Aren't we prohibited from signing JLIII even if we wanted to?
I may be wrong, but didn't the NBA close the loophole allowing a player to be traded, then waived, then re-signed by the team that traded him?

Yeah JLIII, Garrett, Murphy and Thomas are off limited to the Jazz for one year. Kevin Murphy was last year to the Jazz as he was involved in the GS trade.
