What's new

Oui Oui Gobert!

I do not remember ever seeing the reports on Fes that I see on Kanter, Favors, Burks, Hayward...at P3, workign out, developing new parts of their game.

Perhaps the blame for Fes lies on Fes.
Fes had the build and the athleticism to become a top center in the league. But yeah, he wasted it jackpotting around. I'm more excited about the bigs working on basketball skills with Malone than I am about them spending time at P3. IMO, P3 is overrated. There are few things at P3 they couldn't get on their own working out at the Jazz facility. But it does FORCE those players to work out instead of playng video games by day and chasing skirt at night, so I guess in that respect yes, better to have them at P3.

I only used P3 because it shows that they are working hard. Not that P3 is some miracle worker. In my statement P3 could be switched with any gym across america.

Understood. And I agree it shows dedication. I know when we say a player "works hard," it's sometimes a jab that they aren't as talented as others. In this case, hopefully we have players who have potential AND work hard. I remember telling my Laker friends the Jazz got the steal of the draft when they took Fesenko. I was wrong back then. But I feel the same about Gobert. Hope I turn out right this time.

I have a feeling that Jazz drafted Gobert so that next year they can trade either Derrick Favors or Enes Kanter to move up in the draft to draft Jabari Parker. Jabari Parker just makes so much sense for the jazz in terms not only as a player but in a marketing standpoint. This is of course if they see potential in Gobert that he can be a starting caliber center in the future.

Depends on how much progress Gobert makes and if Enes continues to party and chase skirts. I think there was a reason his name got "leaked" as being on the trading block. It was a trial balloon. Jazz wanted to gauge his interest level around the league. If the Jazz could absorb some salary and come up with another late lottery pick (and land in the 6th-8th range with their own), that just might be enough to trade up to #2 for Jabari. A rebuilding team would have an awfully hard time turning down Kanter (a former #3 pick), the #7 and the #14.

Wow some of you guys have great imaginations. One picture of Kanter with some girls and he is a party animal. The kid worked his butt off and came into camp in great shape. The "leak" was just an internet rumor and had no legs. How is Kanter going to help us get a #2 when he is "known" for being a partier and hasn't proven much due to limited minutes. Kanter has to have a huge season for him to help us get the number 2 pick.

The separation between the Number 2 and Number 6 pick is very minimal. Many mocks have Jabari Parker in the 5th pick range. It is Wiggins then everyone else. Not Wiggins and Jabari then everyone else. Randle, Aaron Gordon, Marcus Smart, Harrison, and Robinson are also really great players.

By itself, the "leak" would be insignificant. But it was reported, by reputable sources, that there is division within the Jazz organization on whether or not Kanter and Favors can play together efffectively. I'm a fan of both. I like Kanter. But both he and Favors have inside games. Kanter is much like Jefferson. Right now his "go-to" move is the up and under he learned from Big Al. Mentioning the "picture" is kind of a joke, although it's not just one picture. Remember this tweet: "Pimp Daddy wants to say Happy Valentine’s day to all my sweeties. I just LOVE you all?" He's had numerous pics posing with scantily clad women. I think it was ilyasova? who noted Enes deletes all mention of porn stars before he returns to Turkey for visits. His lifestyle is his own business. I'm not even saying it's right or wrong. What I AM saying is that the Jazz are owned by a very conservative family who believe they have a very conservative, family-oriented fan base. Do you think having a player who calls himself "Pimp Daddy" sits well with them?

So yes, I do think there's a very real possibility the Jazz play Kanter 25-30 mins, hope he does well, but then decide they may want to trade him, especially if it help brings them a franchise player.

I guess this season will tell. I view the talent as Wiggins and Jabari in their own tier and then 5-6 others a level down. But that's good. It means we don;t necessarily have to jump into the top-5 to get a great player. We can land a pretty good one a little further down. And unless Utah signs a notable FA, I see them finishing in that 6-8 range, or worst case, perhaps being able to buy a late lottery pick by taking on a salary dump at the deadline. Then they might be able to combine two lottery picks to jump up into that range.
