Pacers Making Play at Millsap?

I'm not going to argue this point but it doesn't "all come down to floor spacing" and you make it sound like they would be completely shut down by of help defense. They may not "good" passers but it's not like they are physically incapable. It is all opinion but I would love a Jefferson/Hibbert combo down low over Millsap/Hibbert. Especially with good wing players.

Here's the thing with Granger - on a lousy team he puts up sexy numbers. Takes a load of shots - ALWAYS has the ball down the stretch in close games. We've all seen guys like this before. Juwan Howard in Washington, Shareef Abdur Raheem in Vancouver & Stephon Marbury off the top of my head. Put him on a good team and he's more like 15-16 ppg. Still very solid numbers - but numbers you want to tie up 40mil with? No way. Granger is fools gold.
 
What's with this myth that Granger is a high volume shooter? He only took 16 shots per game last year. His two best years he was 18 and 19 shots per game, that still isn't that much considering he was far and away the best player on the team at the time. He shoots good %, great from the 3pt line, and gets to the foul line. He is a decent rebounber and a good defender.
 
Also, Granger was great in the playoffs last year compared to his team. Averaging 22, 6, and 3 on 48% from the field and 35% from 3 (Luol Deng guarding him along with what was considered to be the best defensive team in the league). You pair this guy alongside Hayward on the wings and you have deadly shooters who are more than capable putting the ball on the floor and making a play.

Admittedly I have always had a man crush on Granger. I like his game. He is overpaid, but I think he only has two years left on his deal. That means he expires when are rookies are still on their rookie deals. We won't really need to sign any big FA (or probably be able too) so I think if Granger for Sap is on the table, (if I was KOC) I would take it.
 
Granger is an excellent player. You'd have to think about it if there was some kind of Sap for Granger deal straight up. But I'm not sure I'd do it even for that, and I'm very sure Indiana thinks Granger is worth more than Sap.

I'd actually trade Millsap and a future 1st (not any of the current picks) for Granger.
 
Wow ct we agree on something. I love granger too. I think he would be a great fit in Utah he is overpaid but would make the jazz a play off treat next year.

I proposed to the guys at work today before I heard the rumor was millsap, Harris and miles or bell for granger Collison and their first next year.

The won't trade hill because he is a home town favorite.

My only concern with Granger is how his deal fits into the new CBA. We might be better equipped to absorb it, but it was a better deal in the old CBA. On paper I agree swapping Granger for Sap is too good to pass up.

Yeah, I doubt the Pacers are going to trade their best player for Millsap straight up though. Surely they would want a 1st round pick somewhere in the near future.
 
Can't believe how many are saying we have a "loaded" front court.
Okur may not even be healthy enough to play NBA ball, let alone back-to-back games. Think last 2 years of Harpring; that's probably BEST case for Memo. Kanter is a complete unknown. Will he be the next Dwight Howard or the next Eddy Curry?

Right now, Jazz have TWO proven guys in Jefferson and Millsap, plus a very promising, but still raw Favors. Derrick looks like he'll be the real deal - certainly good enough where you could have a 3-man rotation like the Jazz had last season with Jefferson, Millsap and Favors. Even IF Kanter turns out to be a great draft pick, he's probably at LEAST one year away from playing well enough to warrant solid rotation minutes. By then, Memo is likely done. Teams need at least FOUR bigs. There are always injuries, foul trouble, etc. What I don't want to ever see happen is the Jazz trade one of their good big men and then sign an Elson or Collins as emergency insurance.

Trade a starter for a backup PG? Are you kidding me?

Sounds like AK when he was the #1 option 7 years ago.

Well a backup PG who would eventually become the starting PG. Also, this upcoming draft will have Drummond, Davis, P. Jones, T. Jones, Sullinger, and T. Robinson (off the top of my head). So chances are we will be able to draft a 4th big next year quite easily.

Expect that is nothing like Granger. That was a terrible description. He isn't a volume shooter, he puts up good %, he puts up great 3pt %, and in his one playoff series (besides his rookie year) he played great. He has never had something that was considered a good team around him. Yeah he isn't a good #1 option, but I think he is a great #2.

Also he has remained relatively healthy his whole career. He also doesn't have an ego from what I have seen.
 
Yeah but how do you guys like Granger in 3 years when his contract is up and our team/young guys should be close to peaking? He will be 31 or 32 I think. Personally, I'm all for the youth movement, and then add veteran pieces. I think moving Sap for Granger may fill a need NOW but would it factor into future plans? His big contract is up when we would resign Favors and Hayward though.. But also trading Sap is putting a lot of confidence in Favors and Kanter too.
 
No reason to even debate the Granger option. No way Pacers would trade him for Sap unless additional pieces are put in place.

Agreed. We aren't getting him or Hibbert and would be lucky to get George. If we could the deal would have been made on draft night. Doubt much has changed. If we are going to trade him we should shop him elsewhere.

Kevin Pritchard, the guy who tried to sign Millsap, is with the Pacer's organization. Interesting fact.
