I get what you are saying, but I feel this is the time to start moving forward. We potentially have two picks this year in the lottery (even though if we got Granger we would probably be a playoff team, so I see what you maybe saying we should wait a year) and 4 super young players who are promising. We also have two veteran players who are in their primes. I think if we add a 3rd in Granger, we have our core for the foreseeable future.
Harris - Watson
Hayward - Burks
Granger - Burks
Favors - Kanter
Jefferson - Okur
Honestly don't see how that team doesn't make the playoffs.

It would be hard to turn down Granger, but I think adding him right now would hurt the future, and we couldn't get him without overpaying anyway. I know it sucks to think of having another season of no playoffs, but having some patience for one more year could really pay off big. Instead of adding Granger this year to be a first round exit, we might be able to add him/someone like him next year with 2 more lottery picks in a very strong draft. I get dizzy when I start thinking about how this could all come together, and I think now is a good time to really look at the big picture. Gotta keep our eye on the prize.

I guess it all comes down go what you want to accomplish.
If the Pacers were silly enough to trade Granger for Millsap then you are right, the Jazz look like a solid playoff team.
On the other hand, the Jazz could get another pick(s) as well as some cap flexibility and pray that they can continue to build a championship caliber team in the future.
For me it is simple, get the young guys playing time and reached them to play at a high level. Over time they will gain the experience necessary to win, and win a lot.
I realty like Granger as a player but it is going to take a lot more than him to get the Jazz competing for a championship. The Jazz have been to the playoffs, but they have never won the whole thing. My vote is to build toward a championship and not the playoffs.

Here are my top choices in order of who I would want from the Pacers (realistic possibilities):
Hill
George
Collison
Hill is a Jazz type PG. He plays hard, doesn't back down from anyone, does the dirty work needed to win and he can hit an open shot from the outside or get into the lane when needed.
The Spurs felt like he was their PG of the future but they could not justify giving TP that kind of an extension. I am sure that Holt also knew that in this new CBA that he might be able to amnesty someone and that someone is Richard Jefferson. The Spurs needed the SF of the future and unfortunately they had to give up a big piece in order to get it. Hill would be a great fit on the Jazz.

I doubt Indy would move Paul George at this point. We view him the same way I'm sure you Jazz fans view Derrick Favors. As a potential major star.
As for Millsap (or even Jefferson, since word is he could be available, too): I'd be willing to move some pieces for him, but I wouldn't overspend, not when we have the cap-space to sign a Nene or David West.
I wouldn't move Granger for Millsap. It just doesn't make sense if Indy wants to be as competitive as possible, right now.

Collison + an unprotected 2012 pick is a little enticing. I guess it depends on how good that pick would be, so I guess the real question is, as a Pacer's fan, how many games do you honestly see your team winning?
The Pacers got the #8 seed in the East last year and will be in contention for it again this year. I'm not seeing what the Pacers have that we want, if not Granger or maybe George, understanding that we passed on him in the draft a year ago. Our own pick or the GSW pick would be comparable to the Indy pick.
