"Those investigators hadn't come up empty: Inside a room accessible only to Belichick and a few others, they found a library of scouting material containing videotapes of opponents' signals, with detailed notes matching signals to plays for many teams going back seven seasons. Among them were handwritten diagrams of the defensive signals of the Pittsburgh Steelers, including the notes used in the January 2002 AFC Championship Game won by the Patriots 24-17. Yet almost as quickly as the tapes and notes were found, they were destroyed, on Goodell's orders: League executives stomped the tapes into pieces and shredded the papers inside a Gillette Stadium conference room."

the way these allegations of cheating are being framed/presented are ****ing ridiculous. The most successful maneuvers in NFL history were those that led us all to believe that it was sport concerned with integrity over gladiatorisms.

Getting ****ing tired of the NFL, tbh..... And I'm long-past tired of ESPN.

Wait, so the patriots were very successful at stealing the opponents signals/play calls?
Isn't that something that every team attempts to do? Isn't that why coaches cover their mouths when calling in the play to their qb.... Because they know their opponent well try to steal the call/signal?

Just another thing that the patriots are more successful at than the rest of the league I guess

"In fact, many former New England coaches and employees insist that the taping of signals wasn’t even the most effective cheating method the Patriots deployed in that era. Several of them acknowledge that during pregame warm-ups, a low-level Patriots employee would sneak into the visiting locker room and steal the play sheet, listing the first 20 or so scripted calls for the opposing team’s offense. (The practice became so notorious that some coaches put out fake play sheets for the Patriots to swipe.) Numerous former employees say the Patriots would have someone rummage through the visiting team hotel for playbooks or scouting reports."

That's hilarious! But, if true, why leave the play sheet where it can be stolen? And how do you rummage through a hotel??
Breaking and entering? Bribing hotel staff for the keys to rooms? It's just too funny. Anything goes in love and war. I hope all the other teams learn from the Patriots. Anything goes in love and war. Smarten up and start stealing the Pat's play book. I think a lot easier just to tell everyone to follow the Patriot's lead then it would be to corral the Patriots. Fake play sheets is a good move. Wonder if those were the games New England lost? Lol....

I think I'm slowly growing tired of it too. I used to be a huge fan. Now I find myself a lot less interested.

I agree with your points.

I don't like how it's a meat grinder either . Good players come and go so fast. Then it's onto the next poor guy. You can't really get attached to anyone but maybe a quarterback. I used to think that I wish I could have played in the NFL. Now I'm glad I didn't, and still wouldn't change it even if I could. They get paid like **** for what they go through, and the damage that is done to their body. It really seems like they are getting a raw deal with their contracts, especially since the NFL is the most popular sport. I really think parents should steer their kids clear of the sport.

The NFL draft just isn't all that fun to me anymore either. The NFL draft is so weird.

A team can draft a player in the second round and then cut him the next year. Or they might do something like draft a running back in the 2nd round and the 6th, then go with the 6th rounder. Sometimes a player is drafted in the early rounds and never plays. It's so crazy. It's nothing like basketball where you give the guy a chance to develop.

I also think so many teams are completely retarded when it comes to the draft. So many idiotic teams will go for the running back when they don't even have a good offensive line. Then when they can't run the ball, they blame it on the running back and cut him. Or the same with a quarterback. They let him get killed cause their line sucks.

If I were drafting, I would always be looking for the best offensive lineman in the early rounds until I have the best line. Then I would get a quarterback, and then draft D lineman and other defenders. Running backs and receivers would be the last thing I'm looking for. Once you get all the other pieces in place, you can plug in guys off the waivers or free agency and have good success.

Just look at Seattle. Two superbowls appearances in a row with terrible receivers. Lynch is a great running back, but Seattle has a great line too. Hell, Russell Wilson isn't even a great quarterback. They were good because of every else, not the skill positions. The Patriots could give a crap less about their skill positions except Brady. Look at their success.

I just don't get what some of these teams are thinking. Especially the perennial bad teams. They can't seem to get out of their own way. But even teams like my Giants. They once had a really good line, and that's how they won those two superbowls. Then they stopped drafting lineman, and starting drafting like stupid asses. Now they suck again. Their line is so bad that it ended the career of their first round running back David Wilson.

Clearly I'm just ranting, but good he'll some of these teams are dumb. Why are so many professional teams so dumb? Aren't they supposed to be good at what they do?

So first game of the 15-16 season and the patriots are already accused of cheating.

Apparently the headsets the Pittsburgh Steelers used to communicate with between Tomlin and his coordinators didn't work last night. When the nfl was informed, a league Offical went to pull the plug on the patriots radios, according to nfl rules, but just as he approached the patriots the steelers radios suddenly started working. After he walked away, the steelers radios abruptly stopped working again. When he walked back to the patriots bench area, again to turn off the patriots coach to coach system, the steelers radios came back on again.

After the game Tomlin aired his frustration, then said that he expected it because it was New England. ESPN is reporting that radio communication issues have been a frequent problem in New England. the NFL had league officials sit in the coordinator booth for an opposing team last season. In that game at a critical third down, the team's coordinators radio went dead, then came back on for the next play.

The play by play radio broadcast. It had nothing to do with team communication. Everyone seems to jump on the dead horse "cheaters" bandwagon. It's getting so ****ing tired. Seriously.

No, that is only part of the story. according to Tomlin and ESPN the play by play was being broadcast through the steelers coaches headsets. As if someone was patching the patriots play by play announcers through the steelers system. It would be like listening to david Locke in your phone while you were trying to talk to your boss.

As for cheating I think the record is pretty clear. Whether or not this was intentional, the patriots get no benefit of the doubt because of their long and well established history of cheating.
